Tomáš Souček’s loan at West Ham was set to expire at the end of June, this would have been a massive loss for the club. The club has kept the option to buy Souček at the end of the season, as long as the club remains in the Premier League.
The Czech international has become a vital member of the first team in his short time in East London. The 25-year-old has only played four times for the club but with his workman engine and tireless running has shown enough warrant expenditure on him.
The Czech footballer of the year will be crucial for West Ham’s battle against relegation. Souček’s ability to run all game means the Hammers midfield remains mobile throughout the ninety minutes of the match.
Souček’s defensive ability also allows Declan Rice more freedom to surge forward, which the 20-year-old has shown flashes of this season. West Ham’s attacking midfielder, whether it be Pablo Fornals or Manuel Lanzini benefit as they are required to do less defensive work due to Souček’s presence.
The midfielder has played his part in West Ham’s upturn in form. Despite results not going the way of the Hammers most of the time, losses to Arsenal and Liverpool and a disappointing draw to Brighton. There have been plenty of positives from the club recent games.
The Hammers have been playing far better football and have looked a lot better, a win against Southampton lifted the club out of the bottom three of the Premier League. Souček has plenty of potential to become a key member for the Hammers for years to come, should the club keep be able to keep him permanently.
