West Ham to Give Refunds for Remaining Home Fixtures
By Justin Wasik
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, West Ham and the wider the sports world has ground to a halt for the better part of two months. Football has returned to Germany recently, but other major leagues are likely a month away from resuming, assuming they resume at all.
Even when football does return, it is likely fans will not be allowed to enter their club’s stadiums due to the virus. West Ham has acknowledged this probability by becoming the latest Premier League club to offer a refund to season ticket holders for the value of the remaining five home fixtures this season.
West Ham joins Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Norwich City, Everton, and Brighton in offering refunds. The offer will also be extended to season ticket holders of West Ham’s Women’s Super League team, who have four home fixtures remaining.
The club will give season ticket holders a choice: either a refund for the value of the remaining home fixtures or a club credit, which can be used towards a season ticket for the 2020/21 season.
"“With the wide acknowledgement that our final five home fixtures of the 2019/20 campaign will be most likely played without supporters present, the club can confirm that our valued season ticket holders and Club London Members will be credited the pro-rata value of the remaining five home matches, which can be used to reduce the cost of their 2020/21 season ticket, or receive a refund.”West Ham United Official Statement"
The club also addressed individual match tickets, telling supporters that, similar to season tickets, they will receive a refund worth the general admission value of the ticket which can be collected as a refund or used towards a match ticket in the future.
If the Premier League season does resume and finish, West Ham’s five remaining home fixtures are against Wolves, Chelsea, Burnley, Watford, and Aston Villa as they look to secure their Premier League status.
