Cast your mind back to 2017, West Ham had just spent £2.7 million on promising star Sead Hakšabanović. Fast forward three years the Swedish-born midfielder failed to make his mark in England and had a couple of loan moves abroad.

Hakšabanović has finally started to find some form this season while on loan at IFK Norrköping. The wide midfielder has scored nine goals and assisted a further eight in 38 appearances in all competitions.

This form has seen the 21-year-old make his debut for the Montenegrin national team and even played against England. This came after Hakšabanović switched loyalties away from Sweden. The midfielder possesses lots of qualities that make him an attractive acquisition for many clubs.

One attribute Hakšabanović has is utility. According to TransferMarkt.com the Montenegrin has played in every position other than the defence. His most clinical position is his favoured left-midfield, he has scored and assisted the majority of his career goals in that position.

Hakšabanović’s performances have seen multiple clubs start to take interest in the winger. West Ham has reportedly already rejected a £5 million for their forgotten man. With clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United being linked with Hakšabanović, West Ham should stay firm and keep Hakšabanović for at least another year.

With the current financial climate, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it will be difficult for the Hammers to buy quality players in the transfer market. The Hammers could use this opportunity to give Hakšabanović a chance in the first team.

There is likely to be space for the Montenegrin in the first team, it is likely that Andriy Yarmolenko and Albian Ajeti will be leaving the club. The Ukrainian could be followed by other high-earners, leaving spaces for fringe-players like Hakšabanović to be given chances to impress.

Hakšabanović would be joined by Grady Diangana and Josh Cullen in returning from impressive loan spells. It is expected that Diangana and Cullen will be given chances in the first team and Hakšabanović should also be given his chance at the London Stadium.
