West Ham: Three Players That Need Long-Term Contract Extensions
Jeremy Ngakia
West Ham has struggled in both full-back positions this season. At left-back both Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku have struggled with consistency. The Right-back position has had much of the same problems, Ryan Fredericks has been far too injury prone and Zabaleta has lost a lot of his pace recently.
These concerns at right-back really started to show during latest Fredericks’ stint being injured. Zabaleta filled in too the best of his ability, but time and time again found himself chasing shadows against the faster wingers in the Premier League.

Many fans started to really fear this when the Hammers were due to take on Liverpool. The Reds have two of the fastest wingers in the league in Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. David Moyes made a bold call to give a Premier League debut to young Jeremy Ngakia.
The West Ham Academy graduate took his chance with both hands. Ngakia has become arguably the first-choice right-back for the Hammers and is set to be given a chance to make the position his own in the future.
Ngakia is still only nineteen-year-old and has all the potential to become a world-class full-back for West Ham if his future is secured. West Ham has started in their attempts to secure Ngakia’s future by offering him a new contract.
One issue is that Ngakia has not accepted the contract he has been offered yet. It is not time to throw in the towel and accept defeat, Ngakia could still take the new contract and sign it. The Hammers hierarchy needs to do all in their power to keep Ngakia as he could save the club a fortune of investment in a new right-back.
