West Ham actually has good players at the club, despite what their position is in the Premier League. Before the Hammers make moves in the transfer window, they should look to secure some existing players to long-term contracts.

The Premier League has confirmed that clubs will be able to extend players contracts that were due to expire at the end of the season. The new rules permit that players contracts can be extended up to when the 2019-2020 season finally comes to an end.

West Ham will be losing Carlo Sanchez and Pablo Zabaleta at the end of their contracts. The Columbian and Argentinean are in their mid-thirties now and will both be moving on to new clubs once their contracts are over.

Zabaleta will be missed as he showed himself as a solid player for eighteen-months. The right-back started to show his age this year and lost much of his pace, leaving him exposed defensively. Sanchez, however, will not be remembered too fondly amongst West Ham fans.

The club should also start to look forward to the end of next season. The Hammers have several first-team players contracts due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season. This list includes key members such as Michail Antonio, Fabian Balbuena, Robert Snodgrass, Lukasz Fabianski and club Captain Mark Noble.
