West Ham buying the Red Bull model would erase 150 years of hard work
The rumor that West Ham United might be overtaken by the Red Bull corporation would be a major mistake. The money wouldn’t be worth the major fall out.
For now, anyway, it is just a rumor but with the proper amount of money and push in the world of football, anything can happen in just a blink of an eye. If this were to happen for West Ham, it would be great in the eyes of the money grabbers and “major football” but it would ruin everything that the Hammers have come to be over the past century and a quarter.
Many would argue that we aren’t the same West Ham anymore and that’s not entirely false but as Hammers, we still hold true to a lot of the original qualities. True, some of the old identity left when West Ham left Upton Park… but this move would completely wipe out the rest of it.
The old idea of West Ham being a working-class club is still alive and well as much as the board try to sway the doubters and the fans show it. Mess with the team, they let you know. Change something… protests and hold out starts to come in. You see, at a time like this… this move would be even more devastating.
Now there are positives, like a possible change to the soulless bowl that the Hammers have now and the income would drive in players with the likes that West Ham has never seen but at what cost? That would bring in new fans, new adventures, but drive out the old way of life.
You might think the old way is dead but I assure you, just ask any Leeds or QPR fan what it meant to their clubs when they got bought out for a new idea. Currently, this may not be the West Ham that many remember but it can get back to that way but if the board goes this route… then you can forget about following anything remotely close to what the West Ham Way is all about.
