Starting at 39, Josh Cullen as he wore it from 2015-2017. At 38, the late Dylan Tombides before his future was cut short by cancer. Number 37’s most recent wearer, Nathan Holland, is the most noticeable and so far, most promising. At 36 we see a few names resurface but Domingos Quina was the last to wear it and arguably the best.
At 35 we see a few players of promise. The most recent Darren Randolph and Reece Oxford are on the top of the list but even though the number is new to Randolph his play for the club has made him the favorite. 34 was worn by a few young, promising keepers but so far, Nathan Trott’s hype exceeds the list.
Number 33 sees the return of Josh Cullen as the most current holder of this number with the hopeful potential to come. For 32 we got back in time a bit from 1999 – 2004 and Steven Bywater due to his young hope both for club and country. 31 gets tricky because you have a young Collison, Enner Valencia, and Edimilson Fernandes. But the best 31 has to be Valencia’s time at the club.
Just like 31, number 30 has a packed house too. The current wearer, Michail Antonio, takes the prize but it wasn’t without a struggle. Also wearing the number 30 was Alex Song, a young James Tomkins, and Frederic Piquionne but neither while wearing the kit have been as good or as meaningful to the club then Antonio has been.
For the most past 39 through 30 has been loaded with a lot of young promise besides Antonio and Randolph but now that we start moving up into the ’20s, things started getting pretty tight. From former Hammers of the Year to one-hit wonders, number 29 to 20 have seen quite a few big names over the years and years to come.
