How David Moyes benefits from a Premier League cancellation

West Ham avoid relegation after appointing David Moyes yet again? How DOES he do it? Yes, this would be 2/2 on David Moyes “saving” the Hammers from relegation, which would boost his CV after a few flops in a row, but a cancellation of the season would be more divine intervention than manager masterclass.

Still, Moyes had the boys looking better in an attacking formation, especially after Soucek and Bowen upgraded his starting XI alongside Jeremy Ngakia at right-back in January. It was a glimmer of hope that inspired some to believe Moyes could possibly be the man for the job.

Should the season be cancelled it’s unlikely the board will dump him yet again, and will instead let him see out his contract. The same can be said for Paul Nevin and Kevin Nolan, Moyes’ assistants, as they have made an impact since joining on to create Moyes’ backroom staff. The team are stronger defensively and better on set pieces – two areas the coaching staff has been drilling.

The reward for Moyes will be a summer window to make this team his own. No relegation means more money to spend without stars leaving. He’ll also be able to pick a few sacrificial lambs to increase his war chest for some moves. It’ll be the first time Moyes will have a summer window at West Ham and proper recruitment could see him settle into the job.
