With the lack of football has come the overabundance of transfer rumors. The latest, West Ham and their “interest” in out of favor goalkeeper, Loris Karius.

There are transfer rumors and then there are “transfer rumors” and this has to be the latter of the two when it comes to West Ham being interested in Liverpool’s loaned out goalie Loris Karius. When a squad that already has 3 senior team keepers, 2 on loan, and an Academy star waiting in the wings for next season… why would the Hammers possibly want or need another keeper?

The Hammers senior team keepers, Fabianski, Martin, and Randolph, aren’t going anywhere between now and the start of next year and West Ham must value Nathan Trott and Joseph Anang above Karius. The only reasonable might be selling off Roberto and then bringing him in.

For Karius, his parent club, Liverpool, value him at around £7.25 million and honestly, for him, that’s not too extreme yet he’s just not needed. When the German came to the EPL back in 2016 there was a lot of hype but after numerous mistakes and inconsistencies, he’s now fallen way down the proverbial hype ladder around where Roberto might be.

Going back to the start of this, the report itself came from Fanatik, a Turkish media outlet who stated that West Ham was apparently in contact with the club to see if he was available. It would be reasonable to believe he will be available as Liverpool won’t really need him either.

Now, looking at this with a glass half full mentality, Karius in his day was fantastic. Letting him sit behind and get reestablished behind Fabs is probably needed for him but that’s about where the good idea fairies stop and you realize that there should be no way the Hammers value him over the rises of both Trott and Anang.

Next. West Ham should take a look at Josh Murphy over the summer window. dark

Let this be what it is… a rumor. If you are playing FIFA or Football Manager you do this deal but in real life and with where West Ham is currently, you don’t even think twice about this. The outlook of a new transfer process has to stay in effect and not let this at one time enticing rumor, get in the way of progress for West Ham.
