Could Saïd Benrahma Tempt West Ham United This Summer?
West Ham manager David Moyes has outlined his transfer plans going forward, in that he only wants to sign players under twenty-five years old. Brentford’s Saïd Benrahma could be a great acquisition for the Hammers
The Algerian had been in great for Brentford this season before it was brought to an abrupt pause due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Said Benrahma would serve as an ideal replacement for Andriy Yarmolenko. The Ukrainian does not seem to be in Moyes’ plans going forward and could be on his way out of West Ham United.
Yarmolenko is on high wages and could still be sold for a good fee of around £10 million, which despite a loss, would help fund a move for the Brentford winger. The twenty-four-year-old is valued on TransferMarkt.com at around £12 million.
The Hammers, however, would probably have to pay near £20 million to prize him away from the Bees according to TransferMarkt.com. Although, if the Coronavirus starts to affect the club’s financial positions then the Hammers could pick up a bargain and get him closer to that £12 million mark.
Benrahma plays the majority of his football on the right-wing but can also be deployed on the left. This means that he can help cover for Felipe Anderson, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen if he starts on the bench. During a match, this ability to switch sides makes the Algerian very dangerous and his dynamism can make him very difficult to mark.
This has led to a very successful season which has seen Benrahma scored ten and assisted eight goals in thirty-four appearances in the Championship. Benrahma has had a goal-involvement every 155 minutes of action. That is far better than current Hammers Anderson, Antonio, Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini.
Benrahma according to WhoScored.com has won Man of the Match of seven different occasions this season. The Algerian has also averaged performing at a 7.4 out of 10, so the winger has been very consistent this season. Something a lot of West Ham United players lack and has majorly lacked this season.
Benrahma has plenty of strengths to his game such as his ability to dribble, cross, passing, set pieces and he also has a good longshot too. Benrahma could become a key cog in the West Ham attacking machine if David Moyes does follow through with his transfer plans and take a punt of the Brentford winger.
