West Ham should press the refresh button on past transfer rumors

An ever-consistent trend at West Ham is continuous transfer rumors. As rumors start coming back up, the Hammers should look new, not old and hit refresh on past rumors.

It feels like every year or transfer window for that matter, West Ham is being linked to the same players time and time again. Most of the time they are solid players but for one reason or another it just didn’t work out.

However, with no football in the near and faraway future, the West Ham transfer rumors have started coming back up again and to no surprise, a lot of the same names are coming back up. Jordan LukakuJoakim Maehle, and Andrea Belotti just to name a few. All three in their own right have solid European experience but its time for the Hammers to look anew.

I’m honestly not sure that the Hammers need another right back at the moment even with the veteran Zabaleta leaving so signing Maehle might be a waste of time and good thinking. Lukaku for a left-back role is nice but he has been injury-prone in the past and God knows that the last thing the club needs.

As for the Italian international Belotti, what a signing he might have been about 3 years ago. The Hammers have already invested a lot in the form of Sebastien Haller and until he gets a solid year or 2 to show what he has. Not to mention, they are both very similar players.

Back in January David Moyes made a statement in an interview with the club about just what he was looking for and what West Ham needs at the moment:

"“I want it to be the vision for the Club that we’re looking to bring in young, attractive, hungry players who are saying ‘we’re going to make West Ham better.”"

Nobody can really sit here and question the hungriness of three players that we have never seen in the EPL or in East London but it does beg the question of will they just use West Ham as a stepping stone and will they really want to be here?

Much like the signings of Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen and how they flew under the radar and were completely new rumors, the club and Gaffer need to continue that route, renewed. Over the past 24 months, there has been very little good news in the form or transfers or anything with the club and changing the page in every aspect is the right thing to do.

If Moyes wants to change the culture of the club and if they can avoid the relegation drop then they need to invigorate their viewpoints on transfers. Young and hungry is just what West Ham need and the fans will crave. Play hard and with heart and the rest will follow.
