Championship Stars West Ham United Should Target This Summer
3. Eberechi Eze
West Ham finally addressed some of their midfield issues in the January Transfer Window. The signing of Tomáš Souček has revolutionized the Hammers midfield. The Czech Republic International has become the box-to-box midfielder that has been needed at the club since Slaven Bilic’s tenure.
There is still some work to be done to fix the West Ham midfield, especially with Manuel Lanzini’s fall from grace and the flop signing Carlos Sanchez. If the two leave in the summer, then the club could make a masterstroke signing QPR’s Eberechi Eze. The 21-year-old has had a stellar season scoring 11 goals and assisting 7, meaning he has participated in 32% of all QPR’s goals in the league this season.
Eze is able to play as an attacking midfield and also in a more defensive role. Therefore, he would be able to cover the losses of Lanzini and Sanchez if they were both to leave the club. The youngster can also play on either wing, Eze would be a real utility man for West Ham to possess in their ranks.
The England Under-21 international is blessed with pace, strength, an eye for goal and creativity in the final third. Eze could blossom at the London Stadium and become a long-term successor to West Ham Captain Mark Noble when he does finally decide to retire. Eze would be a good investment, currently valued at £9 million on TransferMarkt.com and the club would do well to sign him for anything close to that amount.
West Ham should face no issues trying to sign either of these three players, especially if they stay in the Premier League. All three would strengthen the matchday squad and even the starting eleven.
