2.    Matty Cash (Nottingham Forest)

Ryan Fredericks and Pablo Zabaleta have struggled this season. Fredericks with injury, which has stopped him from gaining any sort of consistency and time has finally caught up with Pablo Zabaleta as he found himself chasing shadows this season. This has seen the emergence of Jeremy Ngakia.

The youngster has come into the West Ham side and has done a brilliant job so far in his first three senior appearances. At 19-years-old however, Ngakia is still very raw and might not be ready for a full season as the first choice.

Matty Cash was linked with a £15 million move to West Ham United during the January transfer window however, a move failed to materialize. Cash is a has been converted from a winger to one of the Championship’s most consistent full-backs. Blessed with speed and a fantastic cross Cash could finally be a long-term solution for what has been a problem position for the Hammers for countless years.

Cash’s contribution to Forest’s promotion push has been evident this season. The Englishmen has contributed to seven goals so far this season (scoring 3 and assisting 4). Nottingham Forest has also been the second-best defensive side, only conceding 33 goals in the league and Cash has been vital in protecting their right flank.

The 22-year-old could be a could signing for the Hammers, especially as he can play in multiple positions. This would mean if Ngakia does keep progressing at his current rate he would not be a spare part. Cash is also able to play further forward on the wing and even at centre-midfield.
