West Ham’s summer recruitment hasn’t paid off due to mismanagement and time to adapt to the league. Maybe it is time for the Hammers to look at the Championship for recruitment in the summer.

The poor form this season from West Ham has seen the club in a fight to stay in the league however, their survival has been boosted by the arrival of Jarrod Bowen from Championship side Hull City. Bowen showed that he will be able to take the step up to the Premier League in his stride on Saturday. The 23-year-old scored the opening goal in a 3-1 win over Southampton, a victory that saw West Ham rise out of the Relegation Zone.

West Ham has had great success with buying players from the Championship in the past. Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell have been great servants for the club since they signed from Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town respectively. But the club has also missed out on some exceptional players recently such as James Maddison, Neal Maupay and Adam Webster who all would strengthen the current West Ham squad.

The Championship is full of talent like Bowen, and West Ham should look deeply at the League come to the Summer Transfer Window, irrespective of what league they are playing in. There are a bunch of players that would strengthen most teams in the Premier League, especially West Ham.

The Hammers are in drastic need of some new blood to revitalize the squad. Players coming from the Championship would be hungry to prove themselves, and they will also command a lot less in wages then stars from abroad. Despite the club having a very respectable starting eleven, they need to find reinforcements for the majority of positions in the squad.
