West Ham Player Grades after a much needed 3 points from Southampton
West Ham needed to win today and they did. The Hammers took it to Southampton all match and even if it was nervy at times, they looked well and got all 3 points.
Bowen, Haller, and West Ham oh my! The first half of this match was anything but exciting and drama-filled as the scoreline went back and forth. And as for the second half… more of the same. The Hammers really took it to the Saints and the grades show the story.
Player Grades from 0 to 10
Fabianski
Player Grade: 6
Lukasz Fabianski looked nervy from the start after a rough outing last week. His first real attempt he let in but after that, he got better and secured the win.
Ngakia
Player Grade: 7
Once again Jeremy Ngakia played well making it surely a thing that he will be that starting right back for a while. His play on and off the ball was phenomenal today.
Diop
Player Grade: 6
He seemed really nervous at the start but then he got better as the match progressed. He did miss an open header but played well down the stretch.

Ogbonna
Player Grade: 8
Once again Angelo Ogbonna was a force on the backline. He was all over the place helping out everyone as he moves towards being the Hammer of the Year.
Cresswell
Player Grade: 6
Aaron Cresswell didn’t look like himself today and his passing was really off at times. All in all, he was pretty nonexistent but didn’t do anything to really impact the match either way.
Rice
Player Grade: 7
At times, Declan Rice looked like a third center back as he was back there so much helping in the early stages. He was probably the one at fault for the goal but he was the solid savor that he always is in today’s match.
Noble
Player Grade: 6
All over the midfield in the first 20 minutes but then faded. Against the odds, he got better in the second half even with half the life that he usually has.
Fornals subbed off in the 90th minute
Player Grade: 8
Bring much-needed life to the midfield. Pablo Fornals laid in a beautiful pass (flick) in for Antonio to make it 3-1. He continued to show that he needs to be a part of the Starting XI.
Bowen subbed off in the 77th minute
Player Grade: 8
The perfect scenario for Jarrod Bowen and West Ham as he opened his scoring account and gave the Hammers life early. His ability to never give up has made him an early fan favorite as well.
Haller
Player Grade: 8
Sebastien Haller went from sluggish to pacey after keeping up with Antonio. Almost with a solid header and good flick into the box for an almost Antonio goal. A completely amazing individual goal from Haller. Good to see him back.
Antonio
Player Grade: 8
Already pressing hard and his passing and was complete lights out in the first half. Michail Antonio got on the scoreline early in the second half and almost 10 minutes later. Great match!
Substitutions
Snodgrass subbed on for Bowen
Subbed Grade: N/A
Robert Snodgrass didn’t get the start today but he did come on late. McMessi didn’t have enough time to really earn a grade but he did play well finishing out the match.
Anderson subbed on for Haller
Subbed Grade: N/A
He really didn’t have any time at all on the pitch. Heres to next week.
The verdict, West Ham did what they needed to do in today’s match. The entire attack looked solid and the defense did enough to keep the ever closing Saints at bay. These 3 points are huge and they get the Hammers free from the relegation zone for now.
