West Ham United Monday Night Player grades against the league leaders
West Ham United headed to Liverpool FC this evening to take on the league leaders and possibly Champions for the second time in about a month.
The first half went from an almost immediate let down followed by pure excitement. West Ham gave it there all for the first 45 minutes. The Hammers added to the excitement levels in the second half until Fabianski made an error and the Red’s turned it on leaving only heartbreak.
Player Grades scored 0 to 10
Fabianski
Player Grade: 5
Just 5 minutes in and Lukasz Fabianski gave every West Ham fan a scare but then pushed on well. He kept the Hammers in it the first half but an erred mistake in the second and an overpowering attack made the match history.
Ngakia
Player Grade: 8
The young Academy grad held his own from the start quietly securing the right side. Jeremy Ngakia played well over his grade even if he did make a mistake in the late stages.
Diop
Player Grade: 8
Issa Diop had an almost immediate mistake only to be bailed out by the football gods. He was then blessed moments later by McMessi to put in a headed beauty. The really strong match overall.

Ogbonna
Player Grade: 9
The overall quiet first half for the Italian as Angelo Ogbonna played it professional. He continued to put in a shift and really played well all match. The overall score doesn’t reflect his play.
Cresswell
Player Grade: 8
Great initial defending on Mo Salah from Aaron Cresswell making him work for everything. Pedestrian second half but still, all in all, very little mistakes.
Rice
Player Grade: 7
Declan Rice held his own in the first half playing really professionally. You could tell he was getting flustered later on as the attack overpowered the defense in a disappointing loss.
Noble
Player Grade: 7
Mark Noble is holding his own so far but you can’t help but think he’s a step or two off. The ups and downs of Nobes in this match were hard to watch as especially with the end result.
Soucek subbed off in the 46th minute with an injury
Player Grade: 8
Tomas Soucek started the fist half literally all over the pitch. He couldn’t find a slide tackle that he was afraid of playing really well. Let’s all hope he gets well soon and it’s not a serious injury.
Snodgrass subbed off in the 83rd minute
Player Grade: 8
In a rare none Robert Snodgrass like play, he missed the defender and left the Red’s man wide open for the header, only to follow it up by putting in a beaut for Issa Diop. He continues to please and give the fans hope.

Anderson subbed off in the 64th minute
Player Grade: 6
A quick start for him and has handled it well so far. His first half was saddening and then he turned it on later. It was good to see Felipe Anderson back and hope that he can use this as a turning point.
Antonio
Player Grade: 6
He started out by doing everything he could from the front. If Michail Antonio had any sort of touch at all he would’ve been in business today. All in all not bad, need more though.
Subs
Fornals subbed on for Soucek
Subbed Grade: 7
For weeks we have been wondering where Pablo Fornals was and then out of nowhere, he was back on the score sheet and proving us all right. His return was due to a bad thing but he turned it good quickly.
Haller subbed on for Anderson
Subbed Grade: 5
The best thing to say for Sebastien Haller is that he got a shot on net. The bad thing, it was directly as Allison.
Bowen subbed on for Snodgrass
Subbed Grade: 6
Jarrod Bowen put the ball on net and in a great shot. The only issue was that Liverpool has the best keeper in the league on their side. It was a growing match for him.
Clearly, not the result wanted by anyone. West Ham gave it all they had and obviously showed that they have some heart left still. There was a time when you would’ve thought they had it in the bag but they cannot let this deter them as they have a long road to go.
