So… West Ham are heading to Liverpool today to face the league leaders and so far, invincibles. Will the Hammers be able to pull anything off?

Last time out, which was just a few weeks ago, West Ham barely put up a fight… if you can even call it that. Coming off of a disappointing loss Wednesday night, will the Hammers be able to do anything today? Something new has to happen, but does any of the staff predict anything but a loss? Let’s dig in.

Liverpool 3-1 West Ham

For starters, no I do not think that the Hammers will be able to put up anything short of a fight. I do think, however, that at some point either Felipe Anderson or Sebastien Haller will be able to get at least one on the board but that will be about it.

As Jarrod Bowen said this week ( and I paraphrase ) the pressure is off this week. My hope is that the Hammers can use it to get better and get ready for the remainder of the season. Because after all, the Reds will simply be too much for the Irons in this one. But hey, there’s always next week.

Liverpool 3-1 West Ham

The Hammers looked disjointed, unorganized and generally lacked effort in their 2-0 loss to Manchester City. The scoreline didn’t do justice to the very lopsided loss, but with goal differential almost as important as points now, Moyes will take the -2 and move on… the only problem is that it’s more of the same against Liverpool.

I doubt the fan and media outrage over how West Ham played against City will go unnoticed, but will the gaffer flinch in the wake of this pressure? Should he, it’ll be for the better. It’s time for West Ham to settle into a better-suited 4-4-2 formation and have a go at Liverpool with a strong, attacking-minded team. I still think it ends in favor of the Reds, but the effort should be better.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

After Wednesday’s dismal display against the current Premier League Champions, I wouldn’t hold out much hope as the Hammer’s travel to the future Champions. I always like to try to see the positives when predicting West Ham matches.

David Moyes has destroyed this mentality though and is focused on simply not conceding more than four goals rather than try to win or even draw football matches. West Ham will likely set out as they did against Manchester City and the match will probably be as horrible and torrid to watch.

This would be a massive shame, considering Felipe Anderson, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio will all be fit for the match and all have the pace to potentially get behind the Liverpool defense and cause some issues.

Liverpool 4-0 West Ham

Will Moyes learn from his mistakes after the woeful performance against Man City? I don’t think so. It is in his nature to settle for damage limitations rather than seek the points that we need for survival.

I don’t think that this time, however, our team will get so lucky as to only concede just two. He may think that taking a firm loss in this game so that the team can focus on the more important Southampton game a few days later, but it could just as easily knock the complete confidence out of the team for good.

Of course, nobody actually expects West Ham to take anything from the game anyway, but waving the white flag before the game has even started isn’t the way to go.

Liverpool 1-1 West Ham

At this point, nobody even really expects the Hammers to have a prayer in this match, especially with Liverpool losing midweek to Atletico Madrid. I, however, think that the Hammers will really try to hang in there for a while against the Reds, and even hold them to a draw!

I will call upon Moyes to start Bowen, as he scored the lone goal for the Hammers! The backline will do enough to hold off Salah and company, as the Hammers pick up a massive point at Anfield

Next. Felipe Anderson needs to position himself for a huge West Ham comeback. dark

The verdict, Jay seems a bit optimistic and Bradley gives just says what we really all think and feel at this point. Hey, I guess anything can happen in the EPL but I don’t think it’ll be today or any day for that matter against Liverpool. Either way, COME ON YOU IRONS!
