After another winless weekend for West Ham, morale and hope are devastatingly low in East London. But can the Hammers new signing ignite some excitement?

After blowing a 3-1 lead against Brighton at home, it was the last straw for many West Ham supporters. The result saw the Irons drop into the relegation zone, and if you didn’t think it was a possibility this season, you might need to change your mindset.

After a flying start to the season, the Hammers have been poor for almost the entire campaign. Moyes cannot seem to get his starting XI right, and even more worrisome is that he cannot seem to kick-start some of West Ham’s key players into better form such as Manuel Lanzini or Haller. However, on deadline day the Hammers agreed to a deal with Hull City for exciting attacker Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen absolutely tore it up on the Championship with the Tigers this year, scoring 16 goals and assisting 6 more in 29 games. Clearly a very skillful goalscorer, what can Bowen bring to the London Stadium to try and help the Irons stay up this season? It was a desperate move, but one that I think was needed for West Ham.

Will all of the negativity surrounding the club at the moment, Bowen has a chance to be a bright spot for the fans. The big question is whether Bowen will play as a central attacker or out on the wing. Although I think Bowen could do some damage playing through the middle, I would like to see him out-wide with Antonio, and then have Haller through the middle. Of course, Bowen can score goals, but I would love to see him help Haller get on the score-sheet as well.

The Hammers may very well get relegated this season and that would be nothing but an utter awful disappointment. However, after signing a Championship superstar and a player a number of Premier League clubs were after, I think we as fans must get behind Bowen and see if he can dig us out of our relegation hole.
