The transfer window can bring the best or worst out of someone but do West Ham United fans really want to bring Marko Arnautovic back to East London?

When your club is struggling, just as West Ham is, it’s easy to forget about the past and wish for brighter days. It’s clear that the Hammers are struggling at the striker position and need someone to come to the rescue, but does that someone really need to be this former Hammer?

You don’t have to get very far back to remember the dark days of Marko Arnautovic and by days I mean in multiple segments, not just one period of time. The Austrian center forward was shipped off in the summer to the Chinese Super League and no one seemed to bat an eye, until now.

It seems that due to the unimaginable outbreak in China of the coronavirus that the league has postponed its season opener and is leaving many former EPL players wanting back, to include Arni. And to some surprise, many West Ham fans seem to want him back. But really?

Before we even get into the particulars and the what-ifs, Goal on Twitter reported his news:

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

But even with the rumors stating this won’t happen, did Hammers fans really still want him back? Yes, he scores goals, 22 in his time in East London, but he also hindered the morale of the club and threatened to quit almost monthly with the help of his brother the agent.

Yes, the Hammers currently have barely any luck with their current strikers and he would be a good fit, especially under Moyes where he thrived before. But do you really think that this would be a good move or just another holdover until more money comes along? I say the latter.

West Ham United has taken a step back in time twice already with season with the rehiring of David Moyes and bringing in former keeper Darren Randolph but they shouldn’t want to follow this same trend with Arni and neither should the fans wish it.

Marko Arnautovic is the definition of insanity and to think that for a moment he would able to play along with Haller or Ajeti is absurd as he always needed to be the main attraction. He may have had times of great satisfaction but his overwhelming negativity will forever overshadow the good that he brought.
