Pablo Fornals showing massive improvement for West Ham
By Jay Korman
After a tough start to life in the Premier League, leaving some West Ham fans wondering if Fornals would ever adapt to English Football, the Spaniard has been one of the Hammer’s most consistent players the past couple of weeks.
Coming to the Premier League from a different league is no easy task for any player. The Premier League is incredibly physical, the fixtures list is brutal, and it can be tough for some players to get used to the speed of the game even at West Ham.
During Pablo Fornals first couple of months with the Hammers, all of the general stigmas about players finding it tough in the Premier League seemed to be true. Fornals found himself in and out of the starting XI on a consistent basis, seemed to struggle with opposing players pace, and overall seemed out of sorts on the pitch. That certainly has changed over the past month.
Fornals has been one of West Ham’s best players over the past month. Fornals has looked more confident on the ball and has gained the confidence to run at opposing players and create clear-cut chances for the Irons strike-force.
Fornals has looked like the player most Hammers fans thought they were getting after watching the Spanish maestro tear it up with the U-21’s over the summer. When Fornals is on his game, the Hammers attack looks completely different and dynamic.

His pinpoint passing accuracy allows for Anderson and Haller to make tight runs behind opposing back-lines, and as the season goes on, the chemistry between West Ham’s attackers will only improve.
Another key factor to keep in mind when talking about Pablo’s performances is that he is playing out of his natural position. At his former clubs Villarreal and Malaga, Fornals played in a central attacking midfielder role to which he excelled.
At West Ham, Fornals has played primarily as an attacking player out wide, and overall, I think he has done a good job of adjusting to his new position. There is no questioning the talent of Pablo Fornals.
The Spaniard clearly has what it takes to be a star in the Premier League, and has proved many Hammers fans wrong, myself included. Hopefully, under new manager David Moyes, Fornals can take his game to the next level and will be well on his way towards establishing himself as West Ham’s next big superstar.
