After taking a few hours to reflect and cool down after another disappointing result for West Ham, nothing has changed the Hammers player grades as it was frustration all around.
I guess for what its worth, West Ham was the much weaker side and they played a close matchup on the scoreline. The internal factors that you don’t see however are that Leicester played basically there B team and once again the Hammers got split in two defensively.
Player Grades 0 to 10
Fabianski
Player Grade: 7.1
Let’s just start by saying it’s awesome to have Lukasz Fabianski back. If it wasn’t for him, the Foxes would’ve scored at least 2 more. He did let 2 by him but saved 6 more.
Fredericks
Player Grade: 5.5
After weeks and weeks of praising Ryan Fredericks on getting better and better, he put up a howler today. The right-back didn’t track back on both goals leaving the defense and Sanchez to dry.

Diop
Player Grade: 5.9
Issa Diop did win 6 aerials on the day but started shaky and really ended the match the same way. He didn’t look comfortable either as Leicester were constantly running at him all day.
Balbuena
Player Grade: 6.2
Besides not getting tight enough on the Foxes’ second goal he did ok throughout the match. He passed just about 80% which is good for him and he bested his CB counterpart today.
Masuaku
Player Grade: 5.6
The Congolese international made 7 tackles on the day and blasted one solid shot that probably hurt Schmeichel’s hand but that was it. Never really tested but never really helped either.

Rice
Player Grade: 6.9
West Ham’s captain for this match was about the only bright part when it came to overall team play. Declan Rice only got caught out once and luckily was saved but guys, he’s 20 and he looked good with the armband.
Sanchez
Player Grade: 3.9
Yes, you read that right. Carlos Sanchez has a terrible match and constantly hung his teammates out to dry with his bad passing and terrible choices. Please, somebody, sell him next month.
Snodgrass subbed on for Sanchez
Subbed Grade: 6
If there was a match where Robert Snodgrass didn’t have a grass-stained uniform we would all be surprised. He passed well in this match but that was it.

Anderson
Player Grade: 7.3
This was the kind of match that West Ham fans needed to see from Felipe Anderson. Although he was called out and was nervous taking men on but when he did it looked good to include on the assist.
Fornals the GSH Man of the Match
Player Grade: 8
What a sigh of relief it must’ve been for Pablo Fornals, the staff, the board, and the fans as he notched the first goal of his West Ham career. He looked slow at times but was a bright spark for a dull negative side today.

Lanzini
Player Grade: 4.5
Honestly couldn’t believe what I was watching with him today. Manuel Lanzini was essentially anonymous for the entire match and when he did get the ball he didn’t move it well at all.
Ajeti subbed on for Lanzini
Subbed Grade: 6.1
Albian Ajeti was almost the second first time scorer of the match for the Hammers but his heavy toes let him down.
Haller
Player Grade: 6.5
Well, the now-former West Ham Gaffer played Sebastien Haller alone upfront. It didn’t work before and it didn’t again today. Hopefully, that changes going forward and we don’t see our record signing getting taken off just 10 minutes into the second half.

Antonio subbed on for Haller
Subbed Grade: 5.7
Michail Antonio looked tired and rightfully so. He pushed the ball out-of-bounds twice and didn’t look centered at all.
According to WhoScored.com, the Hammers got an overall grade of a 6.84. However, above-average was not what we saw from the East London side again today. More lack of composure and inconsistency and 3 points lost again.
