After a stressful win on Saturday it appears that the West Ham Gaffer is safe for another week and according to Michail Antonio, the squad is behind Manuel Pellegrini.

Manuel Pellegrini has recently come under fire from West Ham fans and hierarchy alike after the club has lost 7 of the last 9 matches leading up to the Southampton match on Saturday. Fast forward 90 minutes and the Hammers have 3 points and Pellegrini appears to have more life.

Besides Pellegrini being safe for another week, the Hammers are now 4 points above the drop zone with over 10 days to prep for there Boxing Day fixture against Crystal Palace. Although the match was nervy at times you could definitely see a change of heart and effort.

Newcomers, Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller connected on the lone goal and are possibly cementing themselves into the side but it was the continued resurgence of Michail Antonio that made the overall difference as he made waves before and after the match on Saturday.

His attacking presence was a huge difference and he almost got on the scoreline if it wasn’t for VAR. The most important part of Antonio’s match might’ve happened after the match itself when he spoke to the media.

Sky Sports reported that Antonio and the rest of the West Ham squad might have some love for the Gaffer after all. “We showed that we are behind the manager, we’ve got the grit and the fight to do it for him. We showed that he hasn’t lost the dressing room.”

He went on to give even more praise for his Chilean manager saying:

"“A good manager doesn’t put pressure on his players. A good manager allows you to play with freedom and confidence. That is something he said to us: ‘Just go out there and play as well as you know you can’ and I felt we did that and we did it for him.”"

For many, the win and the 3 points on Saturday were an amazing sigh of relief. These comments from Antonio should calm the hearts and minds for now at least as one match can’t solve the season’s troubles just yet.

Next. West Ham won and they did it with 2 up top. dark

As for now, Antonio, Pellegrini, and the rest of the Hammers have just under 2 weeks to prepare for their next match and once again the Gaffers job. Hopefully this newfound passion and attack with push the Hammers to get the better of the Eagles this time around.
