In what is a weekly tradition for the West Ham Gaffer, Manuel Pellegrini sat down to discuss everything West Ham related before the showdown at Saint Mary’s on Saturday.

The pressroom has been a bit calmer this week instead of the 4 press conferences Manuel Pellegrini was a part of last week. Leading up to this match he discussed some keynotes for the match ahead and some key West Ham related injuries.

Starting on the injury side of the house, the West Ham manager provided updates for Lukasz Fabianski, Jack Wilshere, Manuel Lanzini, and Winston Reid. He revealed that once again the Hammers will be without star keeper Fabianski and attacking midfielder Manu leading up to this ever-important match.

He stated, “The injuries are Lukasz Fabianski who continues to recover along with Manu Lanzini. Winston Reid is working without problems. Jack Wilshere continues with some pain.” On some good injury news, Aaron Cresswell has been training all week after coming off on Monday.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

This matchup is so crucial for both sides that it would be a relief to get even just one of these stars back, but alas here we are. It will be interesting to see what his selected starting XI will be and if stars like Sebastien Haller and Issa Diop will find their ways back.

Speaking about the match, the Chilean remained under heavy pressure, which he should, because of the poor run of form as of late. Part of the reason he has been getting added heat is due to his lack of never actually answering the hard questions and beating around the bush so to speak.

He, once again, left a very vague and basic response when asked about the match ahead:

"“We must try to win this game, to add three points more, to try to finish in the best way our first round of the league, and try to improve in the second.”"

He also added frustratingly, “I think that we must be a solid team.” Really? Thank you for the insight, Mr. Pellegrini! Understanding that the pressure will be difficult for anyone to respond to but after weeks and weeks of these types of responses have blood pressures boiling and yearning for change.

Next. Three quick changes that could lead West Ham in the right direction. dark

It has been stated repeatedly that this matchup is key for the future of Pellegrini in East London and I for one just wish that he would put a little more heart into it and fight for his job but once again, it seems like he is just riding it out and hoping that it fixes itself. Until Saturday at Southampton, COME ON YOU IRONS!
