Just as quickly that Carlo Ancelotti got axed at Napoli, his name popped up on the rumor wire for West Ham. But, would he be a good fit for the Hammers?

Really… Carlo Ancelotti… again? Seeming, the answer is a yes especially after his sacking at Napoli. The rumors were out there that he might be fired but for the Napoli brass to do it after a 4-0 win in the Champions League is bold but with that in mind, should that raise red flags for West Ham?

The now 60-year-old is almost a decade younger than West Ham’s current Gaffer, Manuel Pellegrini but there are a lot of similarities. Both have managed world-class clubs, both have won numerous trophies, and now both are struggling to come towards the end of their careers.

All of that mixed with the realization that this is the 2nd or 3rd time that Andreotti’s name has come up when talking about West Ham managerial rumors says to me that if he wasn’t good enough or ready last time, he isn’t now.

Previously in 2011 while at Chelsea, he was quoted by the News of the World saying:

"“I would coach West Ham, why not, It’s a challenge to manage a team outside of the top four and even in the Championship. The atmosphere at West Ham is amazing.”"

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Although the kind words towards the Hammers would make one think that he wanted to manage here but both then and when Slaven Bilic was sacked in 2017, he either turned down the job or was passed over.

The biggest concern with Ancelotti is the squad that would surround him. If Pellegrini gets fired and Carlo is offered the job he will no doubt do so with the idea that he will have loads of cash to build his own team and once again, shuffle this already young and unconfident side.

At this point for the Hammers, they need someone who can come in and succeed with what they have. There’s not saying that Ancelotti wouldn’t do that but it’s doubtful that he would. West Ham has a good squad and what they need is someone who can grow the confidence of who’s in place now.

Next. Not all was lost for West Ham against Arsenal as some excelled. dark

If he gets picked up by the David brothers, will he be good hiring? Only time will tell but the last time the Hammers went chasing on titles and success, it landed them here searching for more. Too much of the same between the present and this future especially with more options out there.
