After a great performance against Chelsea, many West Ham fans thought that Pellegrini’s side would be able to carry the momentum from that match and use it against Wolves to put in a great performance. Sadly, that was not the case.
Before the start of the Wolves match, there was a sense of optimism in the air for all West Ham fans. The Irons were coming off of their biggest away win of the season, and it had seemed to some that maybe Manuel Pellegrini was willing to become more dynamic with his tactics, formations, and decisions. Sadly, none of these things ended up coming true on Wednesday night.
West Ham was clearly outclassed by Wolves for the entire match. It was very clear why one team was in the Europa League Knockout Stages, whilst the other is on the verge of sacking their manager. Pellegrini had some mystifying words on the match as well, stating that he felt that the Hammers were the better side.
The attack once again seemed stagnant, the midfield was overrun, and the back-line simply did not have the pace to keep up with Adama Traore. Overall, this game was a disaster for the Hammers, and with each loss piling up, you have to wonder about the job security of the manager.

Yes, the Chelsea win was a fantastic result for the club, but looking at the Chilean’s overall body of work, many fans would argue its time to see a change in manager. Looking ahead, the Hammer’s next Premier League match will be against another struggling London club, Arsenal FC.
This will no doubt be another tough game for Manuel Pellegrini and the squad, and you have to start wondering how much time is going to be given to the manager before a change is made. In terms of how the Hammers could line up in that match, I think Antonio must come back into the side.
Haller seems off the pace of the game and disinterested at times, whereas Antonio runs his tail off every time he is on the pitch. Other than that, I would potentially put Masuaku back in the side, as Cresswell was destroyed by Adama’s pace.
Overall, the Wolves match on Wednesday was a momentum killer. Its time for the team to step up, and put in a big performance against a top-6 club to prove that it still has fight left. If there is no fight left in the team however, I feel as though Manuel Pellegrini’s short tenure in East London has run its course.
