This weekend as Chelsea and West Ham face-off, the two teams couldn’t be further apart when it comes to their recent forms which could spell major issues for the Hammers.

West Ham has become increasingly hard to watch let alone try to predict but alas here we are. There are a few positive potentials this weekend but we will have to wait and see what actually happens, but as for now, the GSH staff give their thoughts on the match ahead.

Adam

West Ham 0 – 4 Chelsea

Maybe this isn’t drastic enough but Chelsea is fast, young, exciting, and can score goals. This could be a very lopsided match for the Hammers even if Fabianski was in-goal, but with Roberto, it could be a slaughter. Their speedy wingers including Christian Pulisic and Willian could cause problems for our starting full-backs and defenders, regardless of who is starting at striker.

Will there be a goal for the Hammers? It’ll be tough to say, but if there is it’ll likely be on the back of Michail Antonio and his mix of speed and physicality. Outside of him getting lucky on the break, I don’t see the Irons breaking down a midfield trio of Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mason Mount, etc.

West Ham 1-3 Chelsea

It’s pretty plain and simple, right? Chelsea is seemingly flying high and well the Irons are not. The news seems to be everywhere that the Hammers board will give Pellegrini 2 to 3 more matches, but that seems like 2 to 3 more than needed and I just don’t see anything good coming out of this match.

The only thing that could happen well is if Joseph Anang or David Martin get a shot in net and make some positive results come from that position. Either way, Chelsea will still put up 3 if not more against this formation. The Hammers will get at least 1 on the board because Michail Antonio is back with a vengeance and Chelsea can be susceptible at times in net.

West Ham 0-3 Chelsea

This prediction will be short and sweet because right now Chelsea is on the up and West Ham couldn’t be more boring. We look incapable of flair or excitement and only look in a match when the opposition is completely absent. Chelsea will be all over us with or without Abraham and I don’t think this is going to be a happy weekend.

Three predictions and three loses from our OG staff writers this week as feelings aren’t high at the moment. As previously mentioned, the big things to look for are who’s in-goal for the Hammers and how will the defense handle the speed and attack from the Blues. Until Saturday, COME ON YOU IRONS!
