As West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini continue to struggle, the list gets higher and higher for new managers. There is no news yet, but some of the names come with EPL history.

By now, the West Ham world will probably know who the potential suitors are if Manuel Pellegrini gets sacked or walks away on his own. Nothing is official as of yet, but 2 of the names that have surfaces come with quite a lot of Premier League background.

Rafa Benitez

Age: 59

Current Club: DL Yifang

The 59-year-old Spaniard is currently residing and coaching in China in the Chinese Super League. Sound familiar? In his 33 years of managing professionally, he has coached at the likes of Real Madrid, Valencia, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, and most recently Newcastle United before heading to China.

On this list of potential incumbents, Rafael Benitez is arguably the most successful. He has won 12 trophies in all, ranging from Super Cups to Champions League and everywhere else in between. Proven is not a word to use lightly here, but then again, West Ham is currently seeing a proven manager struggle for them.

To keep it relevant and solely focusing on the Premier League, his list of ELP debutants has been pretty astonishing. Xabi Alonso, Pepe Rena, Martin Skrtel, and Fernando Torres just to name a few have all gone on to be world-class football players and Rafa definitely had a part in all of their early careers.

More. Not the first time Rafa Benitez has come up on West Ham's radar. light

The part that would be most exciting if the Hammers brought him in is the fact that he has won in the past at every level and seeming can still do it. Rafa’s background commands attention and workload from his players and that is totally something that West Ham could use.

However, the part that is a bit alarming is how he just up and left to go to China. That move alone is scary and begs the question, did he just leave for a big payday as he is entering the end of his career? Not to mention, this isn’t the first go-around for West Ham and Rafa.  For many, he is on the top of the list as the next West Ham Gaffer but I would pass.
