West Ham went into Burnley with an opportunity. An opportunity to get back into form and win. However, that is not at all what happened.

As the match kept bumbling along only getting worse and worse with every minute it’s hard to think of anything but negativity when it comes to player grades but in this case, nothing good comes to mind and at the moment for West Ham as both the grades and the team are looking clueless.

Player Grades 0 – 10

Roberto – 0.1

Simply because he had 10 saves in the match, he doesn’t deserve a 0. However, he is still completely unsure of himself and where he is. For a veteran keeper that is well in his 30’s, you wouldn’t be able to tell by watching this match. Oh and Roberto, catch the damn ball and maybe try moving oh and maybe get don’t score on yourself.

Fredericks – 6.1

He had on ok match, to say the least. He played well on the offensive by oh wait, he’s a defender, right? Ryan Fredericks got caught too much on the attack and couldn’t get back soon enough at times. Realistically though he was basically nonexistent at times.

Diop – 6.6

All that Issa Diop could do was try his best because he was the only CB playing today. The first goal was on him because he looked lost on the corner but other than that, he was all alone. He did well for covering the entire box alone clearing the ball 6 times and standing his ground well.

Balbuena – 4.5

Harsh? Not a freaking chance. Fabian Balbuena was caught getting bullied by Ashley Barnes all match. His misunderstanding of the game led to an error towards the end of the second half and it never looked good from him. Why is he still starting?

Cresswell – 6.1

The two outside backs get the same score today. Aaron Cresswell didn’t have a bad match as he looked to return to glory with a late second-half goal but was diverted. His defense was good too as he saves a for sure goal that would’ve added to the Burnley total.

Rice – 6.2

Delcan Rice did all that he could have today. He held over 7% of the possession and passed the ball well with an over 80% passer rating. He looks to be getting back to the normal Rice after having a howler of a match last week.

Noble subbed off in the 20th minute – 6

All West Ham fans got to see from Mark Noble was 20 minutes before being taken off due to an ankle injury. All of us send our hopes and prayers go out for the Skipper’s swiftly return.

Yarmolenko Subbed on in the 20th minute – 6.3

The most that can be said for Andriy Yarmolenko and his time on the pitch was that he tried. It wasn’t great or even well, but he at least tried. The Ukrainian got 3 shots on target and even made 2 solid tackles showing his longevity and range. But like was said, at least he had a heart.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Snodgrass – 6.2

Mr. McMessi was his normal heartfelt self today. However, that was about it. He showed that he could play and made the max effort for all 90 minutes. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough. He did pass well and was one of the few that got hearts pumping but the hopes of him making it 3 goals in 3 games never came to fruition.

Fornals subbed off in the 64th minute – 5.5

The headline for Pablo Fornals continues to be that he looks uncomfortable and in all honesty, not sure why he was in this match. Zero shots on net and zero tackles meant he was pretty nonexistent in the midfield. The sad news for Hammers fans is that he’s going to be needed in the coming weeks.

Ajeti subbed on in the 64th minute – 6

As we all continue to wait and see what Albian Ajeti is going to do, we wait longer. He got just under 30 minutes to perform, again and again, didn’t look too positive. Ajeti barely possessed the ball and didn’t get a shot on net. Not all his problems as he didn’t get the service but he also wasn’t getting in the right places.

Anderson subbed off in the 56th minute – 6.1

He showed some good pace and was giving it his all but he was pretty careless with the ball. Felipe Anderson is still arguably one of West Ham’s best attackers, he just can’t seem to find a way through at the moment. Zero shots today for a Brazilian and a low passer rating will leave the hater hating another week.

Lanzini subbed on in the 56th minute – 6.7

West Ham United’s Little Jewel was at it again, showing that he probably should’ve been starting over certain other midfielders. Completing 94% of his passes, out dribbling defenders, and getting a shot on net is all you can ask for an attacking CM. However, in just the same fashion he went down towards the end of the match with a nasty looking injury and once again we are all left wondering what’s next from the Argentinian?

Haller – 6.2

Once again, Sebastien Haller was alone upfront and with trying with all of his might, he couldn’t do much. He won 8 aerials which is what you would expect from a tall forward but nothing came from it. He did get one shot on net but that wasn’t enough. Even when West Ham got him a strike partner nothing came from it.

Next. Some were right, some were wrong, some were way off as we predicted the West Ham v Burnley match. dark

WhoScored.com gave the Hammers a 6.2 which seems honestly too high. The player ratings this week are lowly and possibly harsh in some ways, but they are true none the less. Nobody deserved to be awarded Man of the Match today as honestly, no one showed up in an embarrassing show of “football” if you can even call it that.
