Although West Ham once again looked lethargic at home against Sheffield United, Robert Snodgrass was a shining star in the match and should remain in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.
On a very depressing day for West Ham, Robert Snodgrass provided a bit of hope for many Hammers fans. Yes, the Hammers drew 1-1 at the London Stadium against Sheffield United, but Snodgrass was all over the pitch. The Scotsman was running around the entire game and gave it his all for the Claret and Blue army. These are the kinds of players and effort level that West Ham need for the rest of this season.
Although Snodgrass is not the most physically gifted at his age, he makes up for it with great passion and energy on the pitch. Snods is always looking for playing time and will always be disappointed not to get a runout. I think based on the current form the Hammers are in, Snodgrass should be one of the first names on the manager’s team-sheet for the Irons upcoming match against Newcastle United.
When things are going tough for a squad in the Premier League, there are different ways that different squads can react to a poor run of form. With the Hammers struggling at the moment, the best thing for West Ham to do is to put players on the pitch who will play with passion, energy, and a willingness to give it 100% for the badge. Snodgrass is a player who loves the club and emulates all of the qualities of someone the Hammers desperately need to help them get out of this poor form.
In terms of where Snodgrass should play in West Ham’s current XI, I think he could help unlock many attacking opportunities for the front players by playing in a central attacking midfielder role. Snodgrass has a great passing ability and should hopefully be able to play in the likes of Yarmolenko and Haller to get the Hammers scoring again.
When a club is currently in a bad run of form, they constantly rely on certain players to get them out of the position that they are in with great individual performances. With Haller and Anderson off the mark recently, I think the Irons should look to Snodgrass to help lead them out of their current slump. Manuel Pellegrini is starting to feel some pressure and needs to make some key team selection choices to help the Hammers get back on track. Robert Snodgrass is that key player.
