As West Ham head home this weekend, they will look Sheffield United and their impressive team play right in the face. The only question is how will both sides fare?

This week, Adam, Jeremiah, Jeff, and Lou got together to crack open the magic 8-ball and predict how this weekends match will go for West Ham United.

Adam

West Ham 2-1 Sheffield United

In what may be the least convinced 2-1 prediction ever, somethings gotta give for the Hammers and here’s hoping its at home against Sheffield. The Blades are coming off of a strong win over Arsenal, but the bad luck and inexplicably poor finishing that Arsenal faced saved Sheffield from, at the very least, a draw.

Haller needs to get going and the game plan should reflect this in its design. Look for long crosses and aerial play to try to ignite the former Frankfurt target man through an air assault.

Jeff

West Ham 1-1 Sheffield United

To say the supporters around West Ham United are feeling down about the clubs current form at the moment would be an understatement. While at first glance a home match against a newly promoted side would appear to be just what the Hammers ordered, not so fast.

The Blades of Sheffield United come calling sitting even with WHU on points and coming off a big win vs Arsenal. They kept a clean sheet vs the Gooners and against high-flying Liverpool, they only allowed one in.

Their five at the back is working and against a Hammers squad suddenly looking to be at a loss for goals, this does not set up well for Manuel Pellegrini’s boys. Speaking of the Manager—many have called for him to change formation or inject new players into the side with the hopes of reversing the clubs fortunes (always hiding).

I think that would be nice too, but I just don’t see him doing that. Hopefully, I am wrong and things look and feel differently with the squad come the weekend. I also hope I am wrong and the Irons somehow manage to find all three points here. I think it’s a draw; 1-1.

Jeremiah

West Ham 2-1 Sheffield United

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

If you listened to the Podcast then you might be thinking that I’ve made a mistake with my above prediction. The truth is, all week I was convinced the boys would come out weak and only stumble away with a draw. Not that a draw would be bad, but I wasn’t as sure as I am now.

I truly think that Pellegrini and Noble will get the lads back to shape and with a home crowd that will be buzzing with Carlos Tevez masks and adding fuel to the fire all match, this is going to be an intense one.

This could very easily come down to the wire in the second half but I believe the Hammers will pull through and break the losing streak that is slowly building up. Haller and Wilshere get on the board and bring the Hammers back up the table.

Louis

West Ham 2-1 Sheffield United

I think we’ll get back to winning ways (just about) in a tense affair against the Blades. I’m not expecting the greatest performance in the world but I’m certainly hoping to see more quality than we’ve shown over our last two fixtures against Crystal Palace and Everton.

Chris Wilder has done a remarkable job at Sheffield United and his team will be sure to give us a run for our money after coming off the back of a win at home to Arsenal on Monday night. Seb Haller to get back on the scoresheet with a Mark Noble penalty to win it.

As always, let us know how you think the match will go and if you think we are crazy or absolutely correct. As we always tend to do, most of us besides Jeff picked a 2-1 win. All that’s left to do now is wait until tomorrow and see how the Hammers step off against the Blades. Until then, COME ON YOU IRONS!
