Overrated; adjective: rated or valued too highly. This is the commonality when looking at how West Ham fared against Everton this weekend.

Well, that was rough. There is a clear level of underperforming or just lack of heart surrounding more than a few players at West Ham and it showed. Follow along as its time to painstakingly look at today’s player grades.

Graded 0 to 10

Roberto – 5.2

The Hammers keep made two brilliant saves. First from Tom Davies in the first half and then on Alex Iwobi in the second half. However, his positioning was terrible and the defense really left him high and dry.

Ryan Fredericks – 5.8

He had a heavy workload but continued to stand up to the Toffies ever prevalent attacking. He never got opened up which was nice compared to a few others in defense.

Issa Diop – 6.6

Issa got burned a few times, mainly by Richarlison, but he looked good in the second half. He got booked in the second half as he was then trying too much. By far the better CB today which is a nice sign for him.

Angelo Ogbonna – 6.2

Continually thought he played well for the most part except for when he left a wide-open man score, don’t worry, he was offsides. In most one v one situations, he looked solid which was a nice touch even with a 2-0 loss.

Arthur Masuaku – 5

It was a tale of two halves for West Ham’s DR Congo international. He got much better in the going forward, but wasn’t his normal best and was overworked a lot by Theo Walcott.

Declan Rice – 6.9

Declan Rice was once again West Ham’s best player even if he kind of played better on offense than defense. At a minimum, he was the only one with a bit of heart.

Mark Noble subbed off 73′ minute – 5.2

The skipper was trying to get everyone going but even that didn’t help. Nobody listened and the result showed. Definitely not his best match as he gave the ball away way too much.

Albian Ajeti – 5

He got into positions to do well, but that was about it. He never really had the time on the pitch to get going, however, he was probably the best sub Pellers put out.

Manuel Lanzini – 5.1

Like his midfield counterpart, Manuel Lanzini’s passing was awful. Not his best game by a long shot and probably his worst game in the grand scheme of things. He Just didn’t have it, again, today.

Pablo Fornals subbed off 63′ minute – 5.2

In a surprising turn of events, Pellegrini put the Spaniard on the wing. Clearly, not his best position and it showed. Missed a clear shot wide and only got better with time, but it wasn’t enough.

Jack Wilshere – 5

Not even a need for a remark, was he even on the pitch?

Felipe Anderson subbed off 46′ minute – 4.4

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Felipe Anderson had nothing going forward, on either wing. His lack of confidence will take you back to the beginning of last season and he was rewarded for it by being taken off at the half. West Ham will need a lot more from him going forward.

Andriy Yarmolenko – 6.5

The Yarmolenko effect was in order as he immediately came on and put in a nice cross, that was missed. Understandable that he might’ve been tired with international play, but still shocked he didn’t start being that his form was so high.

Sebastien Haller – 5.9

If there were any embers left, Sebastien Haller held them. Clearly frustrated at the lack of help and goalscoring opportunities and once again, he was left alone.

dark. Next. How wrong was the GSH staff in predicting the West Ham v Everton match?

To quote the West Ham Way host, Dave Walker, “I would say we got what we deserved today but we didn’t because it should’ve been five or six!” With the squad that West Ham has this was unacceptable and needs to be fixed by next weekend. Sound the alarm bells!
