We keep high hopes and relive West Ham United’s goal vs Crystal Palace
Things didn’t pan out the way anyone wanted on Saturday night as West Ham lost late to Crystal Palace. However, baring all the negativity, there was still one play that can be looked at highly moving forward.
The headlines this week have all been negative and it makes sense. West Ham came out sluggish and never look as though they wanted to win. Missed chances after missed chances and sloppy play at the back were just some of the things pointed out after Saturday’s loss.
However, sometimes you have to look at the positive and look at what did work. Although there weren’t a lot of positives to write home about, the Sebastien Haller goal to initially take the lead was a thing of beauty.
After neither side scored in the first half and with the second half starting out the same way the Hammers began to go on the offensive around the 54th minute. The play was set up and looked like something straight out of training.

Lanzini with the ball on the left-wing passed it on to Rice who then moved the ball just outside the box to an in form Yarmolenko. Yarmo held the ball well and was able to draw in enough defenders to let Ryan Fredericks slide down and open up the right-wing.
Meanwhile, there is Sebastien Haller patiently waiting in the box just waiting for the right time to slide into the passing lane that wasn’t even visible yet. As Fredericks moved the ball closer into the box, the rest is history. He knocked it over to Haller and Seb slid it home.
Going forward for the Hammers, this is the play that they all need to focus around. 1. To perfect and do again and 2. Take this energy and promote it into other areas of the pitch.
The international break is here and it doesn’t help that everyone, including players, have a sour taste in their mouths. However, this type of link up play is new to many around West Ham, so keep the faith and trust in the lads moving forward and until then, COME ON YOU IRONS!
