Łukasz Fabiański was injured in the Hammers 2-2 draw over the weekend against Bournemouth. Although the Irons backup Roberto came in and did a decent job, Manuel Pellegrini and his West Ham squad need super Fab to come back ASAP.
In an entertaining match over the weekend against Bournemouth, West Ham played an exciting match that came at a price. An injury to former Hammer of the Year winner and incredible goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański.
Although the injury does not seem to be season-ending, it is expected that Fabiański will miss some Premier League fixtures for the Irons, which spells trouble for Manuel Pellegrini. Fabiański has been nothing short of superb for the Hammers since he transferred to East London from Swansea City.
The Polish international has bailed the Irons back-line out countless times and seemingly creates a highlight reel of incredible saves in each match he plays in. Losing him may be devastating to a back-line that has played well so far. The biggest issue for the Hammers in regards to how Fabiański’s absence will affect the team has to do with the distribution in the net.

After Fabiański was subbed off, Roberto struggled mightily with his distribution to West Ham’s outfield players from goal. Both Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna seemed to struggle to communicate with the Spaniard, and the chemistry that the players have built up with Fabiański may not be there quite yet with Roberto.
Not only is Fabiański a fantastic keeper for the Hammers, but he is one of the main leaders in the dressing room for this squad. He is a well-respected player who provides valuable advice to the other players, and I have no doubt he will be in Roberto’s ear all week trying to prepare him the best he can for the next Premier League fixture at the London Stadium against Crystal Palace.
Although the Fabiański injury is certainly a downer on what has been an overall incredible start to the season, the Hammers need to keep up what they have been doing so far. The team can help out Roberto and his confidence by giving him some goals. The Hammers may have to rely on their attack to win some matches while Fabiański is gone, and they certainly have the talent to do so.
