West Ham’s most usable FIFA 20 players for Ultimate Team
By Adam Smith
The day is upon us, football fans across the world can pick up their copy of FIFA 20 and get to work building their ultimate teams. Here are the best West Ham players to start with!
Cheap and Good
Issa Diop – Chemistry, chemistry, chemistry; Ultimate team is about making things work and a Premier League defender that is French checks a lot of boxes. Diop comes in as a 78 rating CB with 79 defending and 79 physical stats. His 67 speed is a bonus, but Diop is all about winning headers in both boxes with his 6’4″ height. Coming in anywhere between 500-650 coins, Diop is a no brainer to start your team with.
Pablo Fornals – The tricky Spanish midfielder comes in with an 81 rated base gold card and will provide some solid offense from the committed attacking midfield role. Fornals’ best attribute is his 80 dribbling skills which can be used to create space and buy time to send your strikers in on goal down the middle.
Until Lo Celso was packed, I used Fornals as my starting CAM for multiple matches and have a ratio of six goals in twelve games with him. Set up your player tactics to keep him in the box on attacks and Fornals will basically act as a secondary striker. He currently costs between 800-850 coins.
Lukasz Fabianski – West Ham’s best player from the season prior comes in as an 82 rated base gold card and can literally keep your goal clean for the majority of this game. Highlighted by popular FIFA YouTuber NepentheZ as a good, cheap, underrated option to start Ultimate Team with, Fabianski is just a basic keeper chemistry style away from being an elite player.
With said chemistry style Fabianski’s stats are as follows: 90 diving, 94 reflexes, 93 handling, and 92 positioning. This card is insane and is well worth the small investment of approximately 1200 FIFA coins to purchase. The true set-it-and-forget-it keeper!
Break the Bank
Michail Antonio – It isn’t a massive investment, but 1200 coins for a 78 rated rare gold player is a bit steep. Regardless, Michail Antonio’s 85 pace and 89 physicality make him a great option as a right mid/winger. His medium/medium workrates are good, as he’ll commit both to attack and defense, and his height and 91 jumping make him a beast on set pieces.
Antonio is a great option to start your team with. Pace is always king in FIFA and this year’s version is more of the same. You’ll replace him in no time, but until then enjoy the speed and physical nature that is perfectly reflected in Antonio’s card.
Felipe Anderson – If you’re looking for a sustainable wide player who you won’t have to upgrade for months, look no further than Felipe Anderson. Topping the list as West Ham’s highest-ranked player, Anderson’s rare gold 84 card is punctuated with 89 pace and 88 dribbling. Mix in his 77 shooting and 79 passing and you have a dominant player for a long time.
Coming in at a whopping 43,000 FIFA coins, Anderson is a huge investment, especially early in the season but he’s worth it. Currently used in a 3-4-1-2 formation for me, Anderson’s tracking back is solid (thanks Pellegrini) but he excels as a game-breaking winger down the sideline. Well worth the coins.
