The GSH staff predict the West Ham United v Manchester United match
Manchester United, a name that can strike fear into the side of anyone. But do they still hold that same bravado as before, or have they slipped off the top 6 pedestals for good and even below West Ham?
Last season West Ham and Manchester United faced off the usual 2 times spitting the matches with 1 win a. In both matches last season, the Hammers were the clear underdogs, however, for this match, it might not be so clear. Take a look at how the staff at the Green Street Hammers think this might go:
Adam (2-1 Win)
You can tell the season is going well when the predictions are confidently predicting top-6 wins for the Hammers. After roughing out a 0-0 draw away, with ten men, at Villa Park was a positive resume to Premier League action, but the attack didn’t look too potent. I fully expect Felipe Anderson, Sebastien Haller, and Manuel Lanzini to be back to their regular attacking selves with the Reds coming to town.
I gave United a goal simply to not jinx the clean sheet streak, but if they get one I can see it coming on a counter with a Rashford attack busting up the seam on a long ball. Outside of that, a Haller double is on the horizon for West Ham.
Jeremiah (1-0 Win)
For the first time in my entire life as a West Ham supporter, I am not scared of the name or the team surrounding Manchester United. With that being said, they still are a solid team just not one to write home about anymore.

I think the Hammers will look sleepy coming off a shorter week of practice but will still have the ever trusting Fabianski to hold the wall. Much like the Villa match, I think there will a lot of back and forth between the two clubs but the Hammers prevail on a Mark Noble penalty, COYI!
George (1-1 Draw)
West Ham will look to improve on their draw with Villa against Man United. Pellegrini will certainly see the game as winnable however the firepower of United’s attack may be too much for West Ham and I believe the game will finish 1-1. Haller could prove a nuisance although Maguire is in good form and could be a key aspect, Fornals could come into the game and be an important asset and West Ham should look to capitalize on United weak midfield.
Jay (2-2 Draw)
The Hammers should try to attack a very weakened United team that is currently dealing with a plethora of injuries. I think the big question in this match is who Manuel Pellegrini puts into the starting XI in place of the suspended Arthur Masuaku. I think it becomes a very open and action-packed match. Haller terrorizes the United defense and has a brace, however, the Irons struggle on the left side of the defense, and we get an entertaining draw at the London Stadium.
Scott (2-1 Win)
It might seem bold to those like me who grew up watching Alex Ferguson led United to glory after glory, but right now I think our XI has more confidence and belief in itself than that being led by the Solskjaer. At home and unbeaten in 5, I think we have enough about us to win this match.
We’ll need all of our star players to come to the fore and make sure that bogey player Martial is kept under wraps, but I think we can do this. Haller and Lanzini with the goals, and a continued March up the table.
Louis (2-1 Win)
This West Ham side is playing with a certain swagger and exuberance at the moment, and while this will by no means be an easy 90 minutes, I think we’ll prove our credentials and see off Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s Man Utd.
We have got the offensive options to seriously hurt them – especially on the counter attack, which they are susceptible to. They’ve obviously got quality in their lineup, with Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial likely to return. However, I think a packed London Stadium will roar us on to our second home win of the season.
To answer the question above about confidence, I would say the yes the staff do have some growing confidence for the Hammers and United might not be as scary as in previous years. All eyes will be on the match come Sunday so let us know how you think it’ll go and what your predictions are. Until then, COME ON YOU IRONS!
