West Ham United finished out the month of August with another 3 points giving them 7 points so far and that has them sitting high up in the table. Today’s 2-0 win over Norwich was exactly what you wanted to see from the Hammers at home.

Pellegrini’s squad was unchanged from the previous EPL match against Watford last week and this could just maybe be West Ham United’s best starting XI for the moment. With that, let’s dive right into the player grades for the match.

Grades from 0 to 10

Fabianski – 7.2

Fabs was in Hammer of the Year form today and picked up his first clean sheet of the season. It was a very business-like match for the Polish keeper sending he and his club into the international break on a high.

Fredericks – 6.5

It was a fairly casual day for Ryan Fredericks and much like Fabianski, he did what was needed to secure the right side. His 3 aerials and 2 tackles came at clutch times for the Hammers and it’ll help the young right back to continue growing his confidence.

Diop- 6.6

Diop, just like the rest of the defense wasn’t tested too much and when they were, they prevailed. This match for the Frenchman was a solid performance that like Fredericks, will only boost his confidence after an at times shaky start. I point of note was his header that came right to Krul but sent a warning to the rest of Norwich City, that he is not to be left alone in the box.

Ogbonna – 6.8

I thought that Ogbonna was the better of the two center backs today and we might finally be seeing why the Gaffer has been starting him over Balbuena. Completing 81% of his passes and making 3 key tackles was a solid and key input from him today.

Masuaku – 9

THE GSH’s MAN OF THE MATCH

Masuaku was a man on fire today and was awarded the Man of the Match by whoscored.com. West Ham’s veteran right-back showed us all why it is his position going forward. King Arthur completed 6 tackles, 92% of his passes and he crossed in that beauty to Haller to open up the stat line.

Rice – 7.7

This was arguably Rice’s best match for West Ham this season. You can tell that he is regaining this form from last season and having the skipper with him will only help him grow more. He was a major help for the defense today completing 5 tackles and moving the ball nicely going forward.

Hot. It looks like Chicharito might be heading out of East London. light

Noble – 7.6

Subbed 85′

Mr. West Ham showed us all why he has to play. At the beginning of the season, many fans and writers predicted Nobes to play a lot less with the arrival of Fornals but this is just not the case. He had one howler of a pass today but other than that he was his usual self in the midfield even going forward a bit as well.

Yarmolenko – 7.8

Subbed 71′

Andriy Yarmolenko got the nod again today with his counterpart Antonio being injured. At times he looked like he was getting bossed around but his aggressiveness was much more on display today than in the past. That aggressiveness paid off in the 56′ when he got his first goal in 10 months and you could tell he was overjoyed when he and the medical staff shared a moment after many months of rehab to get him back.

Lanzini – 7.8

It has been a big two days for Lanzini. First, signing his new contract with the club and second, absolutely bossing the midfield today against Norwich. He won 5 dribbles and sent 4 shots towards Krul keeping the defense on their toes all match. Arguably West Ham’s best player showed that just why again today.

Anderson – 8.1

Subbed 88′

6 dribbles won, 3 key tackles, and he himself held almost 7% of the possession for the Hammers. Anderson again was key at all ends of the pitch not being afraid to take on an attacker or challenge any defender. Another fantastic performance from the Brazilian today has to excite us all to see what’s next.

Haller – 8.2

Today marked 3 goals in two matches putting him right in the mix for the golden boot. He was an aerial boss today winning 8 times. Seb Haller continues to just do what is needed on both ends of the pitch and that was prevalent again today.

Snodgrass – 6.1

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Bob didn’t do anything too electric today but he just did what was needed to see out a victory when he came on for the goalscorer Yarmolenko. His aggressiveness led to a yellow card but that’s nothing that we don’t expect from McMessi.

Sanchez – 6

Once again for the second EPL match in a row, he had a 100% passing rating. Everyone keeps wondering why he’s playing and he just keeps doing what is asked from the Gaffer. This week, he helped secure 3 points and a clean sheet.

Fornals – 6.3

He replaced the electric Anderson today and was able to fill in nicely. Fornals didn’t have too much time to do anything but he did win an aerial and like Sanchez, completed 100% of his passes closing the match out.

Next. West Ham win in dominating fashion. dark

WhoScored.com gave the Hammers an overall 7.33 rating which seems low for how the Hammers played as it was an overall domination from start to finish which hasn’t really happened so far this season. You can see the glimpses of Pellegrini’s magic coming through and nothing can be more exciting than that at the moment.
