It’s matchday 3 folks and West Ham are headed to the Northwest in search of win number 1 for the 2019/20 campaign.

After feeling overly confident in the two matches before and mostly all of us contributors here at GSH being wronged by West Ham, how will we fare in this week’s predictions?

Adam (4-0 Win)

Call me crazy but the law of averages has to meet the law of eventuality which also has to factor in the recent form of Watford (a team worse than West Ham). Watford is limping and without their leader and Hammers killer Troy Deeney, so I think we’ll see the fall downfall of the Hornets continue, creating a crisis club for the early Premier League.

West Ham beat up on Watford at the end of last season with Mark Noble putting together a beautiful give and go effort with Michail Antonio to slam the season shut. He is healthy and fit for the match as well as Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson, so watch out. I nabbed a big blow out because this team is too good to continue to slump and I think the breakout will come across town for the Hammers

Jeremiah (2-0 Win)

Hey, guess what? I’ve been wrong both weeks so place your bets against me normally but not this week. The Hammer killer, Troy Deeney, is out and Watford has been looking for goal number one with no luck so far.

Insert West Ham. No, I don’t mean it as in they will turn up now, I mean it as now is the time, the time to strike and get up big! I think in the end it’s a solid 2-0 victory for the Hammer’s first win of the year.

Hammers need to look to the past for victory. light. Related Story

Denver Scott (3-0 Win)

We play a true 4-3-3 and all-out attack. Antonio, Anderson, and Haller upfront. Lanzini and Fornals behind with Declan in front of the backline defending for his life. Hey and Ben Johnson starts! Come on you Irons!

Jay (2-2 Draw)

Haller scores his first Premier League goal of the season in a tight contest for the Hammers. I think West Ham will dictate the play for most of this match and hold the majority of the possession, however, until this West Ham squad proves it can defend for a full 90 minutes, I think the Hammers will come away with a draw here and will still be searching for their first win of the 2019 Premier League campaign.

Jeff (2-1 Win)

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Last October’s loss at Brighton 1-0 was one of the most disappointing moments of the campaign for West Ham in my opinion. The Hammers have not fared well at all against the Seagulls in the top flight: They have won three of four vs WHU and that fourth match ended in a draw. Manuel Pellegrini is also winless against their side in his PL career. And so here we go in Match Day 2 with Brighton having won surprisingly 3-0 while we all know what happened to West Ham vs City last week.

The only positive take away I see from the stats is the fact that Brighton doesn’t score much, and doesn’t usually score more than one per match at home. A lot has been made of West Ham’s attacking intent, and the many options Pellegrini has at his disposal along the front line. This week is the time to see both the intent, and more importantly, the result for the Hammers. I don’t think it is going to be pretty but I think the Irons get it done here 2-1. COYI!

Scotty J (2-1 Win)

It’s always a tricky match and Deeney loves a goal against the Hammers. However, I think with the return of Haller and Anderson we’ll be too much for the Hornets who have really struggled in the season’s opening weeks. I watched their match against Brighton as research for last week’s match and they seemed very sporadic, only producing in little instances rather than throughout the game.

For the Hammers it’s the second season in a row it’s been a slowish start but if Pellegrini can get his players firing in the next couple of weeks no-one will remember the opening two results. In all honesty, a loss to City and a draw away at Brighton isn’t the end of the world by any stretch. Trust in the Engineer, and he’ll manufacture us a win here.
