Is Pellegrini still the “Charming Man” as he pushes West Ham onward?

Last season West Ham United’s Gaffer, Manuel Pellegrini, was left searching in multiple matches to find the right starting 11. After an offseason of promise and 2 matches in the books, does he have his best starting team and is he happy?

Firstly, the Gaffer is and should not be on the hot seat. West Ham has had two difficult matches, City for starters and Brighton away. However, after the City shellacking, he pulled the two most underperforming players (Cress and Balbuena) before the Brighton match. Leaving us to wonder if he has lost his nickname, “The Charming Man?”

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

That nickname was originally given by Man City supporters during his time there and has followed him ever since. The wise Chilean has brought promise and a sense of security back to West Ham which is what every fan needs. But after inheriting an unstable team in year one, it looks like the Gaffer is ready to do what is needed to push the Hammers onward.

If anything after his unhappiness for the way the Hammers played City, he might be going with the best man up mentality again until they get it right. The Brighton match was no “walk in the park” and I totally expect to see more changes next weekend at Watford.

To me, it seems that his once best attribute of charming the fans and players may be gone, but that is just what everyone in East London needs. What West Ham needs is someone to push them to where everyone wants them to be and Pellegrini is that guy. In under two seasons, he has brought Snodgrass back from the dead and given youth players like Diangana and Johnson a new life.

Next. West Ham have missed their captain. dark

Yes, it might’ve taken all last season and so far both matches this season for him to try to find his best 11 but that doesn’t mean we should be worried. The Gaffer might no longer be “The Charming Man”, we’ve been charmed and had the wool pulled over our eyes before, and it’s only brought us back to where we are. This man is and will be taking us to new heights.
