At the dawn of a new season, what better way than to predict (most likely wrongly predict) how it will go for West Ham?

The GSH team took on their predictions for Hammer of the year, Young Hammer of the year, the surprise of the season, and top goal scorer for West Ham. As in true fashion with many of us, we might disagree a little.

Hammer of the year

Adam

Manuel Lanzini: I’m judging by what we’ve seen thus far in the preseason, and Manuel Lanzini is blowing us all away as an attacking midfielder. The insertion of Pablo Fornals, another small, shifty playmaker like himself, and Sebastien Haller have kick-started Lanzini’s 2019/20 campaign and I’m loving it. I’m still concerned that he has contract issues with the club, but on the pitch, he is looking in form and motivated to take off this season.

Felipe Anderson: It’s time for the Brazilian to shine without the burden of being the big price tag player. With Haller and Fornals in the squad adding to the link-up play I only expect bigger and better things from the winger this season. If West Ham is to push up the table then Anderson will be playing a huge part in it.

Jeremiah

Jack Wilshere: It’s ok, I’ll give you a minute to pick up your jaw. If the one time English international can stay healthy he will be the for West Ham. His ability to defend yet get up the pitch and create will be crucial for Pellegrini and his new look difference-maker attack.

Jay

Felipe Anderson: In his second season, Anderson will thrive under Pellegrini once again. This season, with a year of Premier League experience under his belt, Anderson tears up Premier League opposition and leads the Hammers to a top-6 finish.

Denver Scott

Sebastien Haller: He brings all the tools to the game we’ve missed. He also has resilience, which is necessary for West Ham, as we’ve had SO MANY YEARS of injuries upfront. Hopefully, he brings a great attitude as well. His skills are there, his hold up play looks good, he’s physical and has good vision. Expect a LOT of goals from him this year as well as assists.

Sebastien Haller: This is a tough decision, as we now have a whole host of players capable of having a season worthy of a Hammer of the Year. I will, however, predict Sebastien Haller to end up with the crown come to the end of the campaign.

Just in three pre-season games, the Frenchman has shown so much that we Hammers fans have to look forward to; including having an eye for goal, setting up chances for teammates, and perhaps most impressively so far – his hold up play. If he can spread this out over the course of the season, I think he will be our key man.
