What’s next for the West Ham players discharged of their duties?

At the end of each season we know there comes a time for players to hang up their cleats and part ways for West Ham. Sometimes it’s a bit shocking and somethings, its a case of they can’t leave soon enough. Wednesday afternoon saw a bit of both response and as the dust settles on the news of West Ham United releasing 13 players, what’s next for them?

Yes, you read that right, 13 players, not uncommon really ever for most Premier League clubs. Your average dose of academy players were let go as well as some names you might recognize, Moses Makasi, Vashon Neufville, Josh Pask, Toni Martinez, Samir Nasri, Adrian, and Andy Carroll.

As most players will move on to other clubs, so will not and their dreams crushed of ever playing in the EPL. As we cannot predict the unknown, there already has been some speculation about where the bigger names, i.e. Nasri, Adrian, and Carroll, might go. As we turn the page, we will look at where these three might play football next.

Samir Nasri

Just as fast that his door closed for West Ham, two more might be opening and both are very interesting moves. First, Crystal Palace a team to the south of West Ham might need someone of his stature in the middle of the pack as they look to finish in the top 10. As he would be on a free transfer to them, his wages will be extremely high, something that he has hinted at already.

Another rumor, Celtic. As they will look to bolster their attack and strengthen the midfield, Samir could be a good fit for them. But would he play in the Scottish league? I think a more predictable move for the Frenchman would be a move back home in France. One thing is for certain Samir, you don’t need Palace, you are better than that.

Adrian

As many, including myself, think he will head back home to Spain there have been some interesting rumours floating around. A move up north to the Reds could be in the move as they will be in the hunt for a new backup keeper according to our own Scott Johnson.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

In more recent talks Liverpool may look to a former keeper and may look past the Spaniard. I am sure that some other EPL teams will look at him as he has an obvious love for the game and the ability to back it up. My money is going on the 32-year-old heading home to finish out an excellent career.

Andy Carroll

As many of you are probably still mocking my pain as AC130 was released yesterday, I am very intrigued to see where he goes. One thing that could sway his location is that he just bought Sir Rod Stewart’s house outside of London. One possibility, Leeds United.

Leeds are in need of something cheap and in the forward position as the jury is still way out on their current players up front. He would be a perfect target man but I think he lacks the pace that Leeds have around the ball already. A more realistic thought and rumour, America and the MLS.

With his size and ability and if he could stay fit, he would absolutely dominate the MLS. Unfortunately, the MLS has become a retirement home for former star players but this move makes complete sense in my mind for AC. Watch out for an English reunion in Miami.

Obviously, we are just a few days past this news out of West Ham but the rumours are already moving fast as these three, in particular, will have new homes next season. I would like to personally thank you to not just these three but all of the players released and good luck in your future endeavours.
