After the outstanding signing of Lukas Fabianski this past offseason from a relegated side in Swansea City, West Ham could look to bring in another star of a relegated side. Fulham frontman Aleksandar Mitrovic, the 24-year-old Serbian, is looking red-hot and coming into his prime after a solid season in the Premier League this year. But what do we know about him and how might he fit into this West Ham side?

The first thing that stood out to me is his durability, which is important to everyone involved at West Ham from the board to the janitorial staff, Hammers fans alike need durable, strong players. This season Mitrovic played in all but one Premier League game and it was only twice the entire season where he didn’t play all 90 minutes. The Serb spews longevity, durability, and stamina, all key factors in what Manuel Pellegrini will need.

It has been noted that in this window Pellegrini will be looking for younger players to bolster the squad.  At 24, Mitrovic still fits that style and is well before his prime by today’s football standards. He is seasoned in a sense that he’s been around the Premier League but still young enough to be groomed into a world-class forward.

Aleksandar Mitrovic also has a knack for getting in dangerous areas with the ball. In his 38 total matches this season, Mitrovic scored 11 goals and assisted three more goals as well. His contributions were impactful too, gaining the Lilywhites 21 points when he either scored or assisted. 21 points is absurdly impressive when you look and see that Fulham finished the season with just 26 points.

Lastly, Mitrovic has shown reciprocated loyalty between himself and his team. Exemplifying this relationship, he captained Fulham in seven matches this season, gaining at least a point in four of those games.

There are also “sources” close to him stating that he will wait on Fulham so decide to let him leave or stay. To me, that shows his loyalty in that fact that he is thinking about the club and not himself.

I am sure there will be more to come on this transfer rumor as the summer moves on. But a few things we know are for certain, Mitrovic can play, he has passion for the club that he is on, and he fits the mold for what Pellegrini wants for this window and transfer windows to come. To me, all sound like a perfect ingredient for West Ham.
