With the transfer window coming up there will as always, be many players linked to West Ham. Not to mention that at the same time, we will have a few of our own, probably 5 or 6, players leaving. With all that being said, West Ham have two forgotten gems that could start this offseason in the right direction.
A previously mentioned Edimilson Fernandes will be returning from loan and has had a pretty solid season in the Italian Serie A with Fiorentina. In 31 total matches player, in both Italy, and with the Switzerland International squad he notched up 2 goals and an assist. His versatility was on show too as he played in attacking and defending midfield as well on the right side.

I feel his pace and height would fit well into Pellegrini’s style of play but the potential is raw and unknown. In the few glimpses, we saw him play in the EPL he had looked to me like a solid box to box midfielder. He has the pace to get up and put the pressure on as well as get back and defend as well.
Another hidden gem for the Hammers is Andriy Yarmolenko. Yes, as a matter of fact, we do have him, in case you forgot like the rest of the Green Street Hammers staff to including me. He went out with an injury way back in October of last year just 3 months after signing with West Ham. However, in his 9 appearances with the club, he did put in 2 goals and 1 assist.
His return will no doubt fill a want for Pellegrini as Yarmolenko can help on both wings. I big side note is that Andriy had a knack for finishing and passing well. His style of play can keep the game in motion and pressing on as he likes to cut in a lot and gets fouled often putting himself out there and setting up set pieces in good positions.
With the number of players looking to exit this offseason, the board will need to find the right key players to bring in as well as the right internal fits. These two, in my opinion, can fill some needs by Pellegrini and his staff that would cost absolutely nothing. The Pellegrini project begins its second year and I am excited at the promise. Until next time Hammers fans, COME ON YOU IRONS!
