Six weeks with West Ham: The final push
The final two months of football are upon us and the future is about as clear for West Ham United as it is for Game of Thrones.
The comparisons might be a little far-fetched but the truth is as Hammers fans and GOT fans alike, we just don’t know what we are going to get. With a potential 18 points up for grabs, there is still a lot of room left for improvement. However, the remaining fixtures aren’t the most welcoming fixtures to write about but I will try my best for predicting an unpredictable team and future.
Chelsea Away 4/8
Earlier this season we played a well-fought match against the now 6th place side at home. This time away and with the team not playing up to form it could be a tough task. Both West Ham and Chelsea have been a roller coaster of sorts this season but to play at Stamford Bridge away is never an easy task. The bias in me wants to say we pull out a victory but realistically I say we pull together and edge out a draw for 1 point.
Man United Away 4/13

Old Trafford has been somewhere West Ham haven’t fared well in the past and just playing Man United, in general, hasn’t been an easy task. However, with all of that being said this season we made quick work of the Red Devils in a late September victory at home. Since the mid-season managerial change at Old Trafford, Man United has been practically unbeatable. There is always a chance for late season heroics but I predict this match to go not in our favor and we will most likely take a loss.
Leicester City Home 4/20
Finally back at home, we will take on a scrappy side in Leicester. As of now looking in good form and by then will have faced Huddersfield and Newcastle which should both be pretty easy matches for the East Midlands side. At this point in the season, Leicester could have a strong hold on 7th place in the table with West Ham looking in but it should still provide fireworks just like last season’s reverse fixture against the Foxes. I think we pull this one out for a close victory and draw back into the 7th place conversations with 3 points.
Tottenham Away 4/27
The Spurs will have a lengthy April playing 7 games and facing Manchester City three times in four weeks. That could almost be a perfect storm for the Hammers to come in and ruin what could be the first of these derbies at the Spurs new home. It would be hard for me to ever predict a loss to the spuds so I won’t start now. With the amount of big and important matches they have this month I see us taking advantage of that and come away with another 3 points.
Southampton Home 5/4
After a resounding comeback victory earlier this season in December against the Saints, it would be great to think we could take all 6 from them this season. Southampton have a tough April ahead of us and still fighting in that ever looming relegation battle will add stress to them. However, have you ever heard of the west ham way? No, not the podcast, the way the Hammers tend to play. I foresee this being a tough match and one that we might take for granted. After two promising victories, I think we will look the fool against a battling Southampton side and fall short this final weekend at home for the 18/19 season.
Watford Away 5/12
The inaugural season for the Pellegrini project ends away with a quick trip North to Watford. Let’s rewind 4 months back when they ruined our streak of wins at home in extremely embarrassing fashion, not a moment we want to relive this season. Watford will most likely still be battling for the best of the rest award just like us and it will all hinge on the final week of the season. I think we will fight hard but come up just short in a tough draw to grab 1 point to end the season.
I am a glass half full guy and gaining 8 points from this final 6-week push would be good especially looking at how we have been the past few weeks. I don’t know if 8 points will be enough but anything is possible and the EPL. Getting a top 10 finish was a goal for most supporters and pundits alike this season for the Hammers so in my mind if that is obtained that is a successful debut for Pellegrini and his 3-year project. The final 6 matches of the year will surely provide excitement, anger, stress, possibly binge drinking, and joy. Let us know what you think and how you would predict the final stretch and as always, COME ON YOU IRONS!
