West Ham take on Palace, can they continue Liverpool momentum?
A London derby is always a tough encounter, and West Ham take on Palace today. Can the Hammers back up their draw with Liverpool? Or will they continue to be consistently inconsistent.
Adam: West Ham 2-0 Crystal Palace
If there are football gods, they’re going to give Lukasz Fabianski the clean sheet he earned and deserved from the Liverpool match. With Wilfred Zaha likely out for this match I don’t think Andros Townsend and Michy Batshuayi will have the chemistry to get in on the goals just yet.
I like West Ham’s midfield better than Kouyate, MacArthur, and Meyer and I think that’s going to be where the Hammers take advantage of the Eagles, driving up the middle and pushing the ball out wide. I think Arnautovic gets back in on the goals in this one but doubt he starts. Two second half goals for me, with the other coming from Michail Antonio again.
Scott: 1-1
If West Ham play anything like they did against Liverpool, then Palace should be no issue. But in the East End of London nothing is ever that simple. The players themselves confess that they play up to the bigger opponents, and it leaves the fans very confused. But then again I don’t think Palace are a bad side, especially with some of the talent they have up front.

Zaha is a player who always looks like he should be better than his stats say, much like Batshuayi. If they can both get firing then our South London rivals are going to be tricky customers. However I don’t think either side will get too much of a foothold in today’s game. I expect moments and glimpses but not much else. Maybe one will outshine the other in those glimpses, but my money is on a draw.
Jeff: West Ham 2-1
At first glance, the side by side stats of West Ham and Crystal Palace are similar to each other. Only two wins separate these London clubs in the table. Both sides are a -7 GD.
But dig a little deeper, and offensively the Hammers have created 33 big chances this season while Crystal Palace only 14. That’s significantly more fire-power for West Ham. Palace is going to have a tough time dealing with the WHU front line whomever its led by-Chicharito or Arnautovic to start. Plus Antonio has been a handful recently and opposing sides always have to account for Filipe Anderson. And if the game is in doubt late, the Irons can always bring on Andy Carroll, who scored one the prettiest goals you’ll ever see via an overhead scissor kick against CP in 2017.
West Ham hasn’t lost to Palace in nearly 4 years (Feb 28, Boleyn Ground). They are on a run of winning their last three London derbies. They’ve won three of four at Selhurst Park. I don’t expect any of those trends to stop now. I see West Ham winning this match 2-1. COYI
Jeremiah: 2-0 Win
Palace away is always tricky no matter what and I do consider it remarkable that we trashed them as we did previously. The Hammers are hopefully coming out of a funk after last weeks performance all while Palace has not looks it normal self as of late.
With Zaha out, they will have to potentially rely on their new loanee to possibly keep them in line. Although I predict a tough one I see us pull through late 2-0 with goals by Chicha and Noble. Come on you irons!
