What to expect when you’re expecting (nothing); West Ham Transfers
By Adam Smith
Well, it’s the most tense time of the year! It’s surely is time for West Ham to do something on transfer deadline day. So, here’s my best bet for the business the Hammers will complete as the clock runs out on the January transfer window.
Outgoings?
The most obvious a few days ago was Marko Arnautovic to China, but with him committing to the team until the summer and his foot injury, the wantaway Austrian isn’t going anywhere. Regardless of his move, the Hammers needed to look at striker options to strengthen their attack, that means players have to go.
Jordan Hugill – Not a factor at all since becoming an Iron a year ago, Hugill is likely to remain in Middlesbrough as they want to take him on by turning his loan deal permanent. This move could bring in £6-7m.

Lucas Perez – Ironically, West Ham’s second best striker right now is the most likely to leave the first team. He was bought as a depth striker and has been forced into probably too much action for his and the teams liking. Despite the loan to buy offer from Schalke, I assume he’ll be off to Spain to Real Betis on a permanent transfer.
Chicharito – How depressing is this one? We were all so excited when Slaven Bilic brought in Mexico’s main man to lead the line in the new stadium and home of West Ham. Fast forward and the player has been unable to sustain first-team action due to injury, illness, and quality. What a letdown. Valencia and Real Betis are sniffing around him and I think £10m would do the trick for him to leave.
Reece Oxford – Reports are coming out suggesting Oxford wants to see out his contract at West Ham before moving anywhere else but it isn’t really up to him. The once starlet is now a depreciated asset due to attitude and overexposure to high expectations. It seems like Germany or the Championship for him, and I’d prefer the former.
