In an age of big money transfers and superstars leaving clubs for “trophies and titles” it’s refreshing to see that West Ham it’s securing the future by resigning youth for the days to come.

Earlier this month it was Declan Rice but most recently, the new 6 year deal for Grady Diangana was made securing his future until 2025.

The New Deal

The details on the contract are still not public knowledge but earlier today the club released the statement and Diangana was quoted by West Ham TV saying “I am very excited to know that my future is here for the next six years.”  With a few things being uncertain at the moment for Hammers fans (mostly Marko) this is some exciting news going into a huge away match against AFC Bournemouth.

Grady has certainly come into form this season after breaking into the first team. It’s fair to say he fits the mould that Manuel Pellegrini has set for the club. After his brace in the league cup, he has had several good outings against strong Premier League sides this season. The youngster still has room to grow but his electric pace and confidence to move the ball makes him a top sub or even starter if needed.

The Academy is back

This deal, to include Rice’s, has to be giving hope and promise to all youngsters that are currently in the academy. West Ham in the past have always been a club that will promote from within and groom youngsters to graduate the to senior squad. We haven’t seen this much potential in a while and it has to be something to get the fans excited about.

When asked about his new contract and following in the footsteps of Declan Rice, Grady stated on the clubs official site “Dec is like a guideline for me. I want to achieve what he has been achieving. I want to prove to everyone what I can do. I want to show everyone what I can do and why I deserve to be here.”  Passion and promise are two things West Ham fans can hang their hats on in the coming months and years and it feels good to know the club is spinning on all cylinders.
