West Ham might not quite have reached their 5 in a row target, but 4 out of 5 is a great run. Pellegrini must make sure the Hammers don’t deflate.

4 wins in a row was a great run for West Ham, but obviously 5 would have be nicer. However now that run has been halted, we mustn’t get hung up on what could have been. If you had offered the fans 4 wins from 5 after the City loss, there wouldn’t have been one that would have turned you down. That’s what the Hammers must take from this.

The play has been exciting, the finishing (except for the last game) has been clinical and the midfield has been resolute. Given where we were at the start of the season, the improvement has been astronomical. Pellegrini is working well with his squad and the emphasis must be on how to continue. Not what could have been.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The worry is that with rapid fire games coming up that our momentum has been lost. The mood from consecutive wins was obvious, the players were happy and the football was reflective of that. When we play Southampton on the 27th, I hope Pellegrini has taken steps to keep to mood positive and the players aren’t sitting worried about losing.

Southampton are playing much better than they were under Hughes, but in a recent chat with the other members of site it’s quite apparent that man for man they simply don’t match up. They’re probably not relegation fodder, but in terms of quality we should be confident that we carry more into the game, both in terms of attacking threat and defensive solidity. The game will be tough, but it is there for the taking.

We’ve seen that Hammers falter before, but I don’t think that this side will do that. There is a sense of quality throughout that we haven’t had in a while. Sure we’ve seen players of quality, but not all the way through the side. Pellegrini is a top manager and he will get the best out of this squad. As long as they don’t get hung up on this loss to Watford.
