Can West Ham continue good form against Watford?

West Ham are one of the inform teams in the Premier League right now, but can it continue? Their opponents as they search for 5 in a row are Watford, a side level on points with the Hammers.

Adam: 4-1 to West Ham

I’ve used logic in my past predictions and it hasn’t helped me out at all so I’m fully committing to a wacky one here. I have complete faith in West Ham being able to score four goals on Ben Foster and Watford’s less than impressive defensive back line. The danger from Watford comes from Doucoure, my favourite player on their squad. He is their Declan Rice and is a superb talent.

The goal scorers I’m predicting are two for Anderson, one for Chicharito and one for Carroll. For Watford I’ll give them a consolation goal late from Troy Deeney. Who knows, maybe it’ll be a penalty to rob Fabianski of a clean sheet. Watford are probably the best team the Irons will face in this stretch of “winnable” games but the sky is the limit with this team so why not a four goal performance here?

Jeremiah 1-0 to the Hammers

Watford is the team that has the best shot in my opinion to derail the West Ham train at the moment. They can play with pace and physicality and that combo has challenged some of the top teams this year. At the same time, the Hammers are firing on all cylinders at the moment.

West Ham’s form, you have to say, is on fire at the moment. Give me almost any player on the Hammers over the Hornets at this point and time. I understand this run has to end at some point but for now I don’t see it. I think they both play a tough game and at some point West Ham will net one in to get all three points. COME ON YOU IRONS!

Scott: 3-0 West Ham

West Ham are on fire and also getting the better of luck. Against Fulham they could have been a couple of goals down early on but a combination of luck and gutsy defending/goalkeeping kept us in it until we could have a chance down the other end. Very rarely do we see an in form Hammers side getting this kind of second chance, and the belief around the club is extremely high.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

Watford are a patchy side and I don’t think they’ll have the continuity to break down the Claret and Blue boys at home. Snodgrass and Anderson are creating chances from nothing and Chicharito looks happy again up front. Carroll is likely to get some minutes and all round I don’t think Watford will be able to cope with everything we have. I also trust Dip, Balbuena and Fabianski to keep it tight at the back.

Jeff: 2-1 to the Irons

Over the past two seasons, West Ham and Watford has been a pretty even match up with the Hammers winning once and drawing once while Watford has won twice in London. One of those Watford wins was that memorable Hammers and the Hornets matchup back in September of 2016 during the first season at London Stadium. West Ham led the match 2-0 and Dimitri Payet executed his rabonna move. The Watford players took offense, and took off, and the next think you know the Irons lost 4-2. That match it could be argued marked the beginning of the end of the Payet-Bilic era.

West Ham United come into this week winners of four straight- yet they still have not won three straight at home since leaving the Boleyn Ground! Their confidence couldn’t be any higher—despite continuing to deal with injures to a few key players. Watford on the other hand is shipping goals and haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 7.

With three games in 8 days, and this being the only one at home, I think the Hammers come out with intent and want to keep the good feelings going on into the new year. I think they win their 5th in a row for the first time since 2005 here.
