Declan Rice is so consistently good we don’t even notice any more

With all that happened on Tuesday night there were a host of stand out performances that caught the eye. Fabaisnki saved a penalty, Snodgrass got two assists and Perez bagged a brace. All played well, but I do feel sorry for Rice now. Here he is putting in top quality performances in the middle of the park and we’re just passing it off as normal.

light. Must Read. Perez off the mark in the EPL

It’s the mark of a top player that they can perform to a high level whilst making it seem simple, and for me it’s clear he’s one of the highest quality players in our side already at 19. Why he’s still nto been given a contract reflecting that I don’t know, but if we don’t act quickly we will regret it. He would improve a side like United and they would pay him a wage he deserves.

Thankfully there is a growing group of fans that appreciate his every move, because without him at the base of our midfield we’d have little to no shape going forward. He picks up loose balls like they’re meant for him and he loves a solid challenge. What more can you want from a defensive midfielder?
