GSH Predicts West Ham’s trip to Huddersfield
West Ham travel to Huddersfield this weekend looking to claim back to back wins for the first time since January 2017. According to our writers, they should have this one in the bad.
Scott : 2-0 to the Hammers
This isn’t going to be a walkover, but West Ham have all the tools necessary to keep their opponents pinned back and quiet. With a pacey attack and an increasingly organised and energetic midfield I would hope to get through the match without the Terriers creating any chances of note. But to do that will mean not switching off if we hold onto the ball for long periods of time.
I want to see us moving the ball quickly and really using our pace to our advantage. Snodgrass getting up behind Arnie will help as well, and the tricky Diangana is going to grow and grow in confidence. Outside of the top 6 there are not going to be many teams that will be able to deal with our attack when it’s on a role. And hopefully that’s what they are.
Adam: 3-0 to West Ham
Can’t stop a moving train, and West Ham’s attack seem to be just that – quick, powerful, and dynamic. The upgrade of Grady Diangana over Michail Antonio fits West Ham’s play much more naturally as the one trick pony Antonio lacks any technical ability to create space and cut inside. Diangana is also a pass first type of player which suits having Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson as fellow forwards. I peg Diangana for at least one goal in this match with both Arnautovic and Anderson nabbing the others.
The key to West Ham keeping a clean sheet will not come from their centre backs (who I think will bounce back after a two-error performance vs. Burnley) but from their fullbacks. Aaron Mooy and Alex Pritchard are two creative players who will likely look to get the ball out wide in order to send crosses into the striker. If Aaron Cresswell and Pablo Zabaleta can dig in and make it a physical battle from the outset on these two creative players then West Ham will be able to shut down a sporadic and unreliable Huddersfield attack.

Jeff – 2-1 to West Ham
When West Ham take on Huddersfield away at the weekend, on paper it looks like the Hammer can bag all three points like a Saturday stroll in the park.
Not so fast. I think the Hammers win and I DO think they take all three points; but it’s not going to be pretty and it’s not going to be easy. Yes their opponent has the second worst GD in the Premier League, and they aren’t scoring much either: It’s a run of 21 straight league games with no more than 1 goal scored for Huddersfield. But this is West Ham. The same club that lost 0-1 to Brighton away last month. The same club that before the Burnley match was having it’s own troubles finishing chances and scoring goals.
Manuel Pellegrini has said the Club need to make up for the points they lost from wining positions earlier in the season during this stretch of fixtures. This match is a great opportunity for the Irons to do just that and to continue their momentum built last week before Manchester City comes calling.
4-2 to West Ham
Yes you read that right! Not only am I flying high but I think the hammers are too! The debate could be made that we attacked a lot last weekend only to give up a bit on defense. I do believe this will be much of the same as we face Huddersfield this weekend.
Huddersfield finally cracked into the win column last weekend allowing them a bit of confidence I’m sure but I don’t think it’ll be enough. Confidence and form is high for the Hammers and I think that’ll only propel them going forward. 4-2 for me and as always COME ON YOU IRONS!
